I genuinely think British boxing has regressed that much over the last few years that only Joshua, Fury and Josh Taylor can make a genuine claim to deserve PPV. And Hearn only promotes one of them.

But I agree they are all top notch. But Taylor has headlined one PPV and had the worst numbers since Hearn has promoted on Sky. On top of that he has a contract to deliver 6 PPVs for Sky a year and based on your argument he would need all of those fighters and all fighting twice a year not against each other. We want something that is simply living in dreamworld.

someone like Usyk deserves to be paid millions likewise with Golovkin in his prime and Loma. Only way to achieve that is by building them on a PPV.

The content on Sky is what it is. If f we don’t like it we won’t pay. Let’s face it In the UK Sky deliver better boxing content compared to anyone else by miles

Matchroom and Sky are partners. He's not employed by Sky.

IFL TV have been incredibly important to both Sky and Matchroom for almost a decade. People say that Kassius is being imbursed £500 per week, which I think started with Tyan Booth. The truth of the matter is that it will be a lot more than that. It seems that people accept that IFL TV are a reasonably big deal, but I definitely think that they have been overlooked in how essential they have been to the continued development of the Sky/Matchroom/PPV enterprise.

Sky, Matchroom and IFL TV are the best in the business at propagating viewers. The amount of PPV's that are put out these days is actually comical, but it seems the viewers are happy to have their pants pulled down. Essentially, the trio have managed to forge a new social norm within the sports media industry.

Agreed but if you have a product and Sky say to you here’s X amount of millions every year. However we want 6 PPVs that achieve a minimum of 200k buys. You expect Matchroom the turn that down?

the buck stops with Sky who should be paying higher rights fees for Saturday fight nights. Due to the amount of competition in boxing the purses are high and considering they put their lives on the line I’m not against them being paid a fortune where possible. If Hearn doesn’t pay Taylor, Jonas or Chisora the payday and put those fights on someone else like BT will.

would it be great to have every fight in free tv Ofcourse it would but it’s never going to happen. The one I’m hoping for is DAZN to take over as then we get them all for a standard subscription. We need a UFC style takeover of boxing to make it possible

I keep forgetting about that, good point.

Yeah, his Sky contract is ending soon, maybe he is fulfilling dates with even more crap so he doesn't breach the contract but knows he is off somewhere else so don't care about it.

He’s gone very cagey about where his future lies and the contract is due up in June. Never remember it running this close before renewing the deal before.

my guess is he cuts a deal that allows him to work with both somehow

I have a feeling Hearn will go full DAZN, it's here in the UK now, its easier for him to have Matchroom UK/US fighters all together on one platform.

I have a feeling MTK will fill the void on Sky.

I’m not knocking Hearn. He’s doing a salesman’s job (earn as much money as possible whilst spending as little money as possible) and he’s clearly very good at it. It was more of a gripe with the people who just accept it for what it is and just buy anything and everything Hearn sticks on ppv just because it’s him/Matchroom.

Or even worse, the ones who say ‘well if you don’t like it don’t buy it’ or start comparing it to the price of a takeaway.

Chisora as a PPV headliner is sheer madness.

He's the gatekeeper of the division, for crying out loud.

I agree. However with the recent press around MTK and Kinahan there is no chance Sky sign a deal with them any time soon. My guess is Hearn keeps the contract but utilises MTK more often like with the Golden Contract. Heard Sauerland were convinced they could do a stadium show with Eubank later this year which they can’t do without a tv deal unless it’s co promoted

    Good Post.
It's not that we don't want to see the fights, it's the broadcast arrangements when we already have a subscription sky sports channel.

The "if you don't like don't buy it mob" miss the point.

Some boxing has been on free TV before. Quite rare now.

The local paper up here is suggesting that Scott Fitzgerald will have a warm up fight on this card, another warm up in July then likely face Fowler in a re-match in October.

That’s primarily down to the purses and the digital sub services.

if it was way to do mick Hennessy who is a solid promoter would still be competing with his free tv contract.
