    More like he has mandatories and Haye hasn't done **** at HW. You can't actually believe that Haye deserves a shot over Thompson or Povetkin, two HW's who earned their chance by beating actual HWs....can you???

    You win big in Germany, especially when you have fans.
    Luan Krasniqi used to make 5 Million Euros per match because of his big fan base and he's not even a champion.

    More evidence that boxing, especially heavyweight boxing is becoming
    a global sport. Wlad Klitschko is a global superstar who can command
    multi-million dollar prizemoney fighting relatively unknown mandatories.
    The U.S. and to some extent the U.K. media like to try and disparage
    Wlad's fame but he is a global superstar and money backs up that
    claim. $12,000,000. for a mandatory fight is incredible and unprecendented
    in boxing history. All hail the great Klitschko.

    do they have PPV in germany? usually superstar boxers also have a cut in the PPV.

    There is PPV but it's a small market and most of the known guys like Klitschko and the Sauerland/Universum fighters are on free tv.
    The exchange rate € to $ is about 1.6 right now, so its actually about $800.000.

    I'm happy with Wlad making that much. He is the HW Champ and no matter how bad the fight was, it would have generated enough money to cover the purses.

    If anything, Thompson was OVERpaid for his pathetic lack of effort.
