I’ve really liked the headliners that have been on Sky since the start of 2021. Kelly vs Avaneysan, Okolie vs Glowacki and although Warrington vs Lara seemed poor before the fight was a cracker for entertainment in the end. in general in a pandemic I think the cards have been reasonably well matched with no gates. Granted if there was a gate I would expect a slightly stronger card.

I actually think in terms of card the Whyte vs Povetkin is one of the weakest so far. Seems it doesn’t have a solid co-headline to help justify it as a PPV. Maybe Benn vs Vargas for instance on this card rather than a stand headliner and make Bivol vs Richards as a headline.

However with crowds hopefully coming back and As there are always so many opinions on here I thought it would be interesting to see what people think is a justifiable 5 fight Saturday fight night card they would expect the likes of Sky to put on.

    personally I think something like

    Connor Benn vs Josh Kelly
    Martin Bakole vs Hughie Fury
    Joe Cordina vs Zelfa Barrett
    Fabio Wardley vs Nick Webb
    Solomon Dacres debut

I think the above would be w decent Saturday night viewing. Be interested what others opinions are

You think Connor Benn vs Vargas is a better co headline than Cheeseman vs Metcalfe.

Something like the below would do nicely

    Fowler v Fitzgerald
    Dalton Smith v Robbie Davies
    Billam-Smith v Jumah
    Willy Hutchinson v Zak Chelli
    Campbell Hatton

Apologies i didnt mean co-headline. I meant another fight that could be of the level of a co-headline. I meant another marquee name fight.

What sort of purses you think those guys deserve?

Given that the standard of fight like Charles Martin vs Gerald Washington has combined purses of over $500k

A decent level European/British level title fight should be the absolute minimum for a main event on regular Sky- with the occasional world title fight also being shown.

As for the undercards I’d rather see area title fights than showcases but Sky clearly disagree.

Sky are strange with sticking certain fighters on PPV undercards and not putting them on regular Sky- Conor Benn springs to mind.

Cheeseman vs Metcalfe id accept as a main event on a Saturday night with a strong British undercard .
Fowler vs Fortea and Chris BS vs Ducar do zero for me , did anyone honestly look forward to those 2 fights ?

It's Fitzgerald v Fowler based upon...

    Fitz beating Fowler previously.
Fitz having been British Champion unlike Fowler.
    Fitz still unbeaten.
Fitz having the larger attending support.
Fitz hopefully being the Home fighter in the return.
    Fitz before Fowler alphabetically.
    Fitz probably the A Side.

And just to add, Fitz will smash Fowler again. Some numbers, a fighter just has.

No it's purely because the first fight was a good fight and Fowler was made to eat humble pie.

I'm a fan of Fitz and was buzzing for him the night he beat Fowler, funnily enough I watched the fight back a week or so ago. That said..... he didn't "smash" him... that is a myth. It was a close fight and the right man had his hand raised.

I want to see the rematch and hopefully the same outcome, but the difference is Fowler has had 5 fights since the loss, been living the life and looked good on the weekend. Fitzgerald wasn't exactly outstanding in the Cheeseman fight... his only fight since Fowler.... and has had his problems outside the ring which has led to his inactivity.

He should have at least 1 or 2 fights (where he definitely gets rounds in) before he jumps in with Fowler in my opinion.... if he goes in straight off the bat I think he gets beat.

I think we’re all agreed that boxers like Whyte and Chisora are ridiculously overpaid. It’s a scandal really. I know some posters say that boxers are never underpaid because they risk their lives, but there has to be some quality control. Other that the main event, Saturday’s Sky show was terrible. Compare this or Whyte/Chisora to Ortiz vs Hooker. We’ll buy any old tupp over here.

You mean the Ortiz vs Hooker fight that had this undercard?
    Anabel Ortiz vs Seneisa Estrada
    Ramos vs Martin
    Lopez vs Lopez
    Rincon vs Solis

Be honest you havet ever heard of any of those fighters have you. So I would argue that Kelly vs Avaneysan was a very similar fight to the above. Difference being Ortiz looks thereal deal and came through the test. Both had pretty weak undercards mind you.

I agree that we deserve stronger overall cards and some are overpaid but that is due to the competition in the sport. But Sky are putting out by far the best content in the UK currently only better provider in my opinion is DAZN. If they had a card every week it would be hands down the greatest provder.

Of course, I didn’t even watch the Ortiz Hooker undercard. I’m just comparing Ortiz v Hooker to Chisora ppv main event, Whyte ppv main event. Sky are putting out the best content, though the last MTK show was pretty good for free, but there’s a reason why so many people are ‘ fishing ‘ PPVs and it’s not just down to money. The undercard to Whyte Povetkin, other than Cheeseman Metcalf, is terrible.
