I can actually see Sanchez beating Chavez, and I agree with your summary. JCC's gets a little misinterpreted, a bit like how people misconstrue and amalgamate old and young versions of Ali or Foreman to create some superman that never actually existed.

wow, welcome to the forum. Most new posters don’t just attack other posters. Not quite sure why you are dismissing or criticizing other posters for having a valid yet divergent opinion. Either way I hope you enjoy this forum as much as I have for years. I just hope this in an outlier thread/post rather than the norm.

I don't give him much credit for beating that version on Nelson. The name is great but he was a 13 fight novice who fought no one.

I disagree, to me Sanchez gets major credit for this win. Now I don’t think it was a prime version of Nelson as he was going to learn a lot from fighting Sanchez. I don’t agree that he was green either he would go on a lengthy unbeaten run for years after this and would not lose again till he moved up to fight Whitaker. Nelson didn’t have the experience he needed in this fight but it is still a great victory for Sanchez. Nelson was unknown at the time, but hindsight reveals just what an impressive win this is for Sanchez

I have been attacked since I arrived. And on this poster look what he wrote. It makes no sense. I do not take remarks about me without return. Look up all my posts and see how they were received from the beginning. Before you go after me. From the off I kept asking why people kept answering me so negatively. Which you just did again. Look at my posts throughout the different threads and the replies & see.

Yeah yeah dude. You go your way and me mine. Just wanted to discuss Sanchez not argue with people calling me mental who can't make up his mind. Maybe there are other forums where people are nicer. If not I will just avoid your posts.

15 pro fights is green. Especially with the competition that he faced beforehand. He even looked raw in their bout. That one loss changed the way that he approached boxing. It made him far more patient and of course he got better with each bout. My downplaying Sanchez's victory is more to the defense of Nelson because I believe that a more seasoned Nelson would have sought a rematch and it would have been far more competitive than even the first. So, I guess beating any version of him is awesome.

Not bad Philly, not bad at all. Only one I'd flip is Saddler and Pep.

I don’t know if I can fairly rate ANYONE #1 p4p. Too many great fighters and achievements. The ones who are even within the top circle for me are Robinson, Charles, Armstrong, Moore and Duran.

Sal Sanchez had the ability to be one of the greatest ever, possibly the GOAT at featherweight..... BUT!
Remember when Curry came on the scene, and if I remember right KO magazine ( Or one the other mags from the era) ran an article on him proclaiming him better than Leonard, Hearns etc, comparing him to R.Robinson after his sensational ko of Mccory?
How did that turn out? Is Curry in anyone's top 5 -10 welterweights today.?
That's how I see Sanchez’s career, he may have earned the best ever, or , he may have avoided a fighter like Pedroza exposing a weakness.
I have no problem with anyone having him in their top ten in featherweight history, but the best ever? Or the GOAT P4P?
No he didn't get the chance to do enough.

Dont even put the 2s names together. Sanchez had already proven his greatness against great Little Red, Gomez & Azumah. Curry beat no one.

It was a comparison and a comment of what COULD'VE happened to Sanchez if he had lived. But since you decided to mention them, I'll rebuttal with facts.
Gomez is possibly the greatest Super Bantamweight in history, he was at his best there.
Was he at his best at featherweight? No he wasn't, what ever the reason, his toughest fights , his 3 ko losses came at featherweight and above.
Azumah Nelson had all of 15 pro fights when he gave Sanchez hell. He was raw and green , with a bright future, but he clearly wasn't the " Professor " when he fought Sanchez.
One of my favorites Danny Lopez was at the tale end of a great career, he wasn't prime, and in his prime he was defeated by B.Chacon, a very good fighter when he wasn't taking drugs, but that's it very good.
Are those 3 wins better than anything Curry pulled off, of course they are, but does those 3 wins make him the GOAT. Of course not.
Because when one looks behind the NAMES. and see where those fighters were in their careers........ Well.... One wonders.

These are important facts, but I still think Sanchez's victories are pretty terrific. I do believe he would have been up there with Hearns and Leonard, even if he stayed at feather.
