Lennox Lewis will always be my guy. And this was him at his best, as well as the Ruddock fight.

Golota never wanted to be a fighter. If I recall correctly, he showed up an hour late to the fight, or something like that.

Golota got robbed vs Chris Byrd and John Ruiz and was severely outclassing (a past prime but still formidable) Riddick Bowe before he threw his brain in the trash and disqualified himself. He was a pretty good fighter but was also a damn nutcase

I remember something about Golota showing up late with no shoes, he was not mentally ready to fight, and it was obvious before the bell rang. No disrespect to Lewis intended, he’s an ATG fighter, but this wasn’t one of his best fights. The Ruddock fight was special.

As usual, there's always something behind the scenes with Golota

"Golota was injected with lidocaine, a powerful painkiller, before the bout in an attempt to stave off knee pain. Golota had a seizure in the locker room about 15 minutes after the bout ended, during which he stopped breathing and was without a pulse for about 30 seconds. After being revived by cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rushed to the hospital, Golota's condition was upgraded to stable and he eventually made a full recovery. "

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennox_Lewis_vs._Andrew_Golota#:~:text=Golota was injected with lidocaine,to stave off knee pain.&text=Golota was fined $5,000 for, court for around $1 million.

He didn't seem right walking into that fight and he arrived late to the fight... We will never really know what effects the lidocaine had on him for the fight itself ... I don't rate this win that highly for Lewis due to the circumstances surrounding Golota

As for the Ruddock fight, Ruddock was already severely damage by Tyson. It was a decent win but I don't rate it highly because of how much the Tyson fights took out of him.

Lewis best wins are Klitschko and Holyfield

His prime lasted 1 fight. Guys career might be the biggest enigma in HW history. He should be rated the same as Andy Ruiz, Buster Douglas and Hassan Rahman.

I agree it’s just annoys how he’s the one guy who get praise for one fight where he put it all together while other fighters get discredited for beating him afterwards or in Golota’s case getting himself disqualified.

For what shake of God he had been fined?
Ofc anti doping workers are not decent doctors.
Their opinions are in not rare cases laughable.

Lidocaine is used as local anesthetic and also in cardiology to battle hearth problems and in anesthesiology in op room, etc alike.
If lidocaine is injected in leg this will not reduce pain from blow in head or ribs.
Dentists too does use lidocaine ( not only this of course ). You will not feel punch in ribs when dentist will gave you lidocaine in your teeth area? Sure?

Both, these antidoping dudes and Golota too looks a bit like joke.
At least from wiki article, I do not support ppl who fined Golota nor also this Golota.

I think leg problems might had impacted Golota performance.
Lidocaine: I do not think, most likely nor positive and also not negative effect.
Anesthetics doesn't makes tendons, cartilages and joints work better or worse.

Since the legs are not hit in boxing, local anesthetic lidocaine might not reduce pain from being hit above waist.
Also will not improve agility or speed.

Okey, maybe he might move longer in the ring if does not feel pain in knee or ankle, that's all.

This Lewis, who came out aggressive, is probably unbeatable.

He looked frightening when he wanted to be aggressive and not get involved in a chess match.

He also has wins over Bert Cooper, Tony Tubbs and Michael Dokes. Better than the likes of Douglas, Rahman and Ruiz, and Bowe also won a rematch unlike those mentioned except Ruiz and Ruiz was a decent fighter. It was clear in the first Golota he was like 10 or 12 pounds overweight as he came in at his career heaviest 252. Because of this and the Holyfield wars he clearly wasnt as good as he used to be and got smashed by Golota and received even more brain damage. Thats why even in the rematch when he slimmed down he still didn't have the coordination he had in the Holyfield fights and his other fights
