Miles Templeton said Bird had 141, I'd be shocked if a high profile fighter like Archie Moore had more missing KOs than an obscure one like Bird. I'd be interested to see that, if you have the link. Would be interesting to look into the ones not on boxrec. Or is it not publically avalible?
Archie fought so many fights in between fights in dives and all kinds of places just for practice to avoid paying sparring partners. To find all his fights would be difficult even for Archie if he were alive.
He came to the local Junior High School in Dec 1969 on the last day of school before Christmas vacation started. He brought 2 16mm tapes of the bout against Muhammad Ali on Nov 15 1962 and the fight against Rocky Marciano on Sept 21 1955. He brought us a truck load of Carnation Ice Cream and cases of Pepsi Cola in bottles. He shook our hands and explained the importance of obeying the law, serving our community, and education. Later that day he opened a youth center that he had built in our neighborhood, it had a gym, had color tv, and music. Archie Moore was a great man, he paid for an under privileged child to have an operation to his injured eye. We need more positive role models like Archie Moore today.
