I'm surprised more haven't noticed this. His balance, timing, reflexes, reaction times, punch resistance, and even accuracy were noticeably diminished.
Whyte wins the rematch by KO this time. I hope Povetkin wins, but I can't see it happening. He was getting pummeled in the first fight before he landed the finishing blow.
I thought his legs looked completely and utterly gone last fight. He was stumbling over his own footwork and you could tell he wasn't hurt on either knockdown and was frustrated that his body was betraying him. Father time is a vindictive dick. Getting old sucks, I feel his pain.
He already had surprised me cos he did not retired from fighting when he was 37, not alone when he did not retired when he turned 40. Then he surprised ppl by handling out impressive and watchable KO vs 32 y.o 252 lbs Whyte who had been declared as future world title cotender and prospect, btw even ranked higher than povetkin was before their fight. For example in boxrec he for sure was below whyte, like 4 # and pov 6#.
Yeah even if someone looks good on the pads during the pre-fight workouts it's doesn't really mean anything because when they climb into the right on fight night the truth will reveal itself. He has to try and end it early because I don't know how many rounds of gas he has left in him anymore.
Povetkin is shot to be honest. He struggled against Michael Hunter in 2019. Whyte has to KO him quickly.
Well if you consider that some great black mark I guess you're not among those guilty of somewhat overrating Hunter. That fact isn't all that shameful IMO, and I'm not even sure Hunter couldn't beat Whyte, and styles make fights. Povetkin's kinda shot, yes - but not totally, and Whyte isn't some mythical elite beast of the like that somebody like Povetkin, after being world-rated top 5 over a decade, can't, if even at only 70-80% of his prime, still be in with a chance.
Maybe first rounds if he will managed to land. old, long years over the hill + covid and hospital twice. eddie most likely is too powerful with his clauses to get pov in the ring with anyone. If Pov will beat Whyte, this will be miracle. Also proof about " elite division" level. On cards he will not win in any case. It is eddie show.
I re-watched the first fight and Povetkin didn't look as bad as I originally thought. Even the 2 KDs were flash KDs. For me, unless the layoff or COVID really took it out of Povetkin, he'll beat Whyte again. And I also think Whyte needs to win by KO because I think the more time he spends in there with Sasha, the more time he has to get KTFO again. People crap on Povetkin's stamina and think a longer fight favors Whyte. Whyte isn't exactly Smokin' Joe Frazier in there. Anyone remember his fight with Wach where he completely gassed out? Whyte should empty the tank early and hope to get Povetkin out within the first half of the fight IMO. We'll see what happens but I'm riding with Povetkin and betting him at a stupid +285.
Whyte had died if he had prime Frazier in the ring. He never will be champ unless he will get bums - champs in the ring. Fury will feed him in ICU, A.J too and there old uncles to polish 2 nd tier boxers value in fans eyes to sell them. Pick old uncles for beatup and sell ppv = eddie.

If a fighter gets starched like Whyte did against Povetkin, I don't think they're world champion material. It just proves that boxing has declined since the great eras.
