That card was a complete farce

Povetkin looked unsteady just walking down some steps in one of the Matchroom behind the scenes videos, his balance is gone, his legs look weird and stiff when he walks, he was breathing heavy in the workout and looked short of breath even in the press conference.
Everyone there in the bubble must have seen he was beyond shot and he had literally zero chance of winning so were basically just happily lying when talking the fight up.
I don't feel sorry for Povetkin though as much as I would have loved him to KO Whyte.. he and his team obviously knew he was just there for a payday, hence having the towel ready..
A total farce of a pay per view card (I have paid for a lot of them over the years) and I do think anyone that paid for this one is a complete mug.
I'm not the most prolific poster but that was terrible. A real boxing low for me.

Reminded me of David Haye in his last fight. Reflexes gone, off balance and probably lost the fire in the belly that would usually pull him through the mud

Someone said in the rbr that the cheeseman fight saved the card and it’s true. Imagine the nights boxing if that was stopped early through a head clash or something

I use the term ‘saved’ very loosely

I hated the undercard more than the main event. Molina’s performance enraged me tbh- Wardley was actually pretty awful tonight but Molina looked like he wanted out any time he got hit. Again the Cheese fight should be co main on a normal sky card. You’d take that. I try not to judge a card on what actually happens but rather what it looks like on paper - because it removes the possibility of a undercard fight that lights up unexpectedly. But when it was clear Povetkin wasn’t right it was the final straw

Was thinking about this. I’m so pleased I didn’t pay for this, but the number of buys may not be that bad as people couldn’t watch at a pub and couldn’t (legally) split the cost with friends.
The rivers seemed busy though so fingers crossed.

I got a text last night from a friend (yes I have one) asking me a very simple question..

"How did Povetkin pass a medical when he looked to have no balance"

I have no idea, we have seen some very overweight, very unfit fighters turn up and embarrass themselves and boxing, David Haye turned up to the Bellew fight fight with one leg.

I have questions though, were the BBBofC involved? Was this a BBBofC gig? If not then who did the medicals?

Sky have obviously found a formula which works on PPV on their platform - heavyweights. So they are going to stick with that as the numbers dictate. Especially now as they can add Chisora into the rotation and especially more if he beats Parker. Hearn is probably delighted now that Whyte lost to Povetkin and he eeked another PPV out. While people keep buying them they’ll keep putting them on. Saying that the promotion machine goes into full overdrive with it on Sky. Hearn gets a lot of credit but if he was on BT Sport he would be doing similar numbers to Frank. The biggest factor in sales is how successful they are at the crossover fan using Sky sports News and constant promotion programming through the week not to mention the sheer number of adverts on any live sport they had last week. It’s difficult to get away from. The type of punter who is buying it has no idea that Cheeseman - Metcalf has no business that high up a PPV card nor the Molina has no interest in being there.

That Wardley - Molina fight being chief support is laughable. Wardley will be KO'd the second he fights someone competent, and Molina is now at true journeyman level, amazing to think he challenged for the WBC title. I missed this PPV, as I have a few recently. I was hoping that with subscription methods becoming the way forward ( or at least the way industries monetise themselves anyway ) that PPV would potentially decline, but given the tripe served up fairly regularly now, it appears that it's not only still here, but it's a priority.

Molina turned up fat and out of shape. Plodded along, occasionally sticking out a half-arsed straight right to make it look like he was at least trying. Only every time he threw it, it was landing and hurting Wardley. No one looked more surprised than Molina himself as he must have assumed he was going to be fighting someone good seeing as this was a matchroom prospect on a PPV card. Then as soon as he got clipped himself, when he was in a position to finish Wardley if he wanted to, he took a dive in order to stay on script and not upset uncle Eddie. Farcical.

    I enjoyed the card myself.

Two HWs who have top 5 resumes in divison main event. Two Good entertaining domestic fights. Wardley peformance was disspointing though, Molina has no heart as we known for years.

It weren’t a complete farce it just weren’t PPV worthy.
That would’ve been a decent Saturday fight night. It’s disgusting that anything around a 7/10 of a card is deemed PPV or possible PPV.
