Amazed you think i,ve not said why its changed....its changed because no one really wants to invest much into boxing anymore. Was always a struggle. Its more so now.

Obviously its a pandemic but i can list eddies roster who,s fighting pretty regularly before that pandemic.

I m surprised ylu,ve never seen these great fights tbh considering you,ve highlighted huey fury v pulev 3 years ago as channel 5 going strong on boxing.

 

£20 quid for Whyte and old man Pov ? No chance

 

No, I'm saying 2019 for example (pre-pandemic) didn;t feature all these great fights due to PPV, compared to a few years earlier, you are imagining it.
And if you think tonight's fight is a "great fight" I don't know what to say.

Povetkin looked awful.

I,ve never really said great fights every week...the last post was just to emphasise your fury v pulev fight being great. Great fights every week is pretty much impossible with boxing fans expectations.

What you get is decent fights and some good and some great fights thrown in. The alternative is franks bt sport card tonight. Or channel 5 putting tyson fury on every 6 years.

Eddies guys are mostly british level and above. Most of them been pretty active before the pandemic. Even just looking at the heavyweights in the last couple of years.

Dillian whytes fought...chisora, parker, povetkin, rivas.

Joshuas fought...ruiz x 2. Pulev povetkin. And probably about to fight fury.

Chisoras fought whyte, usyk and a couple others and about to fight parker.

I ve missed a few opponents as well.

Go down the list and see how active eddie and others peoples fighters have been pre pandemic.

The pools getting bigger more boxers are being active on tv as opposed to waiting a year to see frank bruno fighting someone.

 

I never even remotely claimed Pulev v H.Fury was a great fight.
I said it was about the same level as Whyte and Povetkin (a 'world title eliminator').

 

It seemed to be the pick of the bunch from pointing to channel 5 putting on good boxing. The other one was 6 years beforehand. You honestly dont see the point i m making?

 

Apart from the fact that Eddie Hearn has done well to put on boxing during the pandemic, no I don't.

The Whyte-Povetkin level fights happen every year, PPV or not, that's my point.

 

Go look at the timeline of uk tv boxing on wikipedia. A lot of the years from 2000 had no events. In 2010 itv dropped boxing cause it was no longer finiancially viable. Bbc pretty much done the same. Sky sports the same at the top level anyway. Pretty much the level whytes at as well tbh.

Who,s been funding all these fights for tv you mention at the same kind of consistancy as we,re seeing under hearn.

 

Don't believe what you read on wikipedia. 2011-2012 had the same amount of televised boxing as SKY under Hearn. Yes, they were 'dark days' and we all moaned a bit, but nothing is better now. It's worse in fact, because there's even more crap on PPV.

And honestly, if it wasn't for Anthony Joshua and especially the potential fight with Tyson Fury, SKY would likely be dropping boxing today too.
It's only the commercial success of Joshua and the professional (and subsequent commerical) success of Fury that's allowed them to sell a guy like Dillian Whyte as a "top level" heavyweight at all.
Like someone said earlier, he's closer to Skelton/Sprott level.
