So, can we finally mix in some young heavies.

I dont think the sight of Povetkin stumbling to the ring on his ring walk, like Tony Soprano in his dressing gown picking up his morning paper did the reputation of the sport any good at all.

Even a complete casual can see he how old he is and incapable he is due to his age.

Nathan Gorman is still just age 24. He did very well in yesterday's fight and I think he may have a very good future.

A loss at an early age doesn't mean as much as some people believe.

Aside from the few at top the HW division seemingly has a dearth of talent as very few fights are made which leads one to believe that managers and promoters have little faith in their scribes.

It feels like we could be heading back to Eastern European dominance at HW after Fury and AJ fade.

I worry Jared Anderson will spend his career either ducking or being beaten by the larger HWs. He's like Whyte, just a little smaller than the biggest guys. Be interesting to see what he does over the next 8-9 years before he's hit his prime.

Coffie, while old, is another relatively fresh face who took a decent step up recently. Probably will be a big test for someone who didn't get such a late start.

From who, though? There are some good guys out there, but they don't get big fights, which is exactly why I am making the thread.

Guys like Dychko and Makhmudov need chances.

Agree on the above about the E Euro HW up n comers and the rest of them.

You're thread starter is pure common sense. Some of the old HW lions need to retire, but we need to see much more Joe Joyce-DD type fights.

Because the money does not originate in their countries. They either have to be huge amateurs with backing from the Russian oligarchs, like Povetkin, or else they have to become German, like the Klit boys.

For both of these ... perhaps the only way is the Wilder route.

Bi-monthly fights against anyone and everyone ... to get to 25-0 and market that record with some highlight reel ko's.

Yes they need to get promotional backing from England, Germany, USA or a Russian oligarch. Otherwise they will just fight away in obscurity, get old and retire then without ever getting a chance.

I have seen a few careers like that play out.
