Haney officially defends his rightful WBC belt if he wins he is like jermall charlo at 160lbs. Hes now officially WBC world champion. Thats my opinion. I feel he is rightful champion already by loma going "franchise" when haney was interim champ. Haney beat a few guys and most recently gamboa but linares is the first real test a 3division champion who was a legit 135lb champion before loma beat him. I think haney beats him 10rds to 2 clear cut decision and becomes officially recognized as legitimate WBC lightweight champion
Good fight, good test, but this fight should be on the undedcard of the Crawford, Pac fight. I know they just announced the fight, but waiting an extra week to be in a huge event like that is worth it. Plus the fans get 2 really good fights.
More money when u r the main attraction. Haney and his dad been about the business from day 1. They used to promote themselves in mexico when he was only 17yrs old and pay the opponents themselves. Haney needs a big fight at the main event. But ur right too
Looks that vs Loma he had fought in 2018 th. Now he is older, might be less dangerous than he was then. From these Loma fights vs Lopez, Campbell and Linares, most watchable fight was exactly vs Linares.
He hurt loma pretty bad at 1 point in the fight. Hes def slowed down and aged but hes prob gonna give haney the toughest fight of his career becausw he really hasnt had any tough fights this his first real step up in competition
I'm looking out for the fan. If I'm paying $90.00 to watch a PPV event, there better be more than one meaningful fight. While I'm at it, scratch the Kambosas fight and put the Loma/Lopez rematch as the co-main. Now that's a $90.00 PVP that's worth every penny.
Wh may are you on about. They fight with different promoters on different platforms. min top of that Haney gets $2/3m a fight alone without being co main
You telling me you wouldn't want to see this fight on the Pac/Crawford undercard, along with the Loma/Lopez rematch. I understand different promoters and all the BS that goes along with getting fights made, but this could be a major event if things weren't so convuluted.
My thoughts? Boxing serving up more waste of time fights that not only will I not be watching live but I wont bother even youtubing afterwards. Yay.
Haney is 20 and already annoyingly going the Money May route. Expect to see him in maybe one good 50/50 fight his whole career.
I'm actually moderately excited for this. Linares could very well pull it off depending on which version of him shows up, if it's the version that showed up against Carlos Morales I'm not ruling out a win. Jorge is slick enough to land on slick fighters, especially ones that are not all that heavy-handed. Sure he got blasted out by Cano, but he is a massive light welterweight that should be at welterweight and Jorge was moving up in weight. So it was basically a lightweight taking on a welterweight. Hell, I even predicted Pablo would win by KO, so it was no shock to me or anyone else that knows Cano, Cano was also a stylistic issue for him. But Haney's style will give Jorge plenty of time to look for openings and try to figure him out while bringing intelligent pressure, there's probably not going to be some bumrushing wild flurry unleashed by Devin, that's just not how he rolls. So it'll end up being chess match, and I'm not sure if Devin is as skilled a chess player as Jorge.
Paulie on Cano's power who dropped him 'Malignaggi also said Broner (27-0, 22 KO) doesn't hit hard, and that he doesn't even hit as hard as Cano. Paulie said that as far as power punchers go that he's faced, there's Miguel Cotto and everyone else. But on the Broner/Cano comparison, Paulie said, "Not even close." “I haven’t been hit this hard since I fought Miguel Cotto.” This content is protected This content is protected
