“We are very happy to be able to get back in the ring. Barrera was a great opponent for me in my career, we had three fights, two of them were the best [fights] of the year, and we are just finalizing some things. In a few days we will have the venue and see if we are going to use head gear or not. What has been decided is that it will be six rounds." Morales told ESPN Deportes.
Championship boxing has become so segmented that it is becoming completely irrelevant at this stage so why not have these exhibitions I've got zero interest in any of the exhibitions but when most Pro fights are complete mismatches what is the difference?
Because spring fever is in the air in boxing, we have embraced full nihilism and leaned hard to starboard into nostalgic excess; ridiculousness reigns supreme...nothing is true, everything is permissible; YOLO.
Boxers think because it's an exhibition, all of a sudden it's ok. Well, you have to actually exhibit something worth watching. These old ass boxers aren't worth watching.
Huge fan of both and will watch. If it’s for a good cause, why not? (just speculating here so please don’t @ me)
This **** needs to stop it has reached a point where these circus acts get more attention than real fights.
We saw it 3 times in their prime, would would really be interested in a 4th between 2 old men? RJJ and Tyson are from different generations and both regarded as the best h2h of their generation so it was an interesting match of styles at least. If theyre going to do this, Morales JMM would be much better, the fight we never got.
Oh wow, this is getting out of hand now. As long as it's friendly exhibition, I don't see the issue. It's always a pleasure to see ATGs again.
What real fights? Seriously. How many genuinely good championship fights do we get each month? April has: Herring vs Frampton Smith Jr. vs Vlasov Akhmadaliev vs Iwasa Andrade vs Williams Navarrate vs Diaz Nothing that really gets your heart racing, now does it? Covid has hit boxing hard.
These freakshow events would not be happening if mainstream boxing had it's **** together but it's more fragmented than ever before and with the scourge of PPV mania it's only going to get worse. Boxing really needs a single official governing body running the sport and not promoters, fighters and broadcasters doing what they like and making up their own rules. It won't happen but it could quite easily be organised.
