Jesus. https://www.*******.com/deontay-wilder-vs-bermane-stiverne-set-for-may-156566 BY RYAN BURTON Published Thu Apr 01, 2021, 10:49 AM EDT Former WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder will make his return to the ring against his former rival Bermane Stiverne on May 15th in a second rematch of their 2015 world title fight. The event is presented by Fox Sports PPV from Barclays Center, the home of Brooklyn Boxing. Josh Dubin and James Prince, who manage the first Haitian-Canadian world champion Stiverne, have confirmed to *******.com that their fighter has officially signed a contract for a trilogy fight with the former WBC beltholder Deontay Wilder. Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KO) has not fought since February 2020, when Tyson Fury stopped the long time heavyweight kingpin in seven rounds to capture the WBC title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. They fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in December 2018. Following the rematch, Wilder exercised an immediate rematch clause but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the third bout was postponed several times. Now it looks like Fury will be facing his countryman Anthony Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight championship. "I'm tired of waiting, I just want to get back into the ring, I don't care against who. We have a long history with Stiverne, he contacted my team after his great fight with Trevor Bryan and I said I'm ready to go. I just want to get back as soon as possible, man." said the former WBC champion. The fight takes place on May 15th, in a Fox Sports PPV televised main event from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. "I am ready, willing and hungry to get my revenge,” Stiverne said. “We all know that Wilder dodged a bullet in the first fight and got lucky in the second fight, but not this time. It was my fault, but I learn from my mistakes. On May 15, Wilder will feel my pain and the world will see the best Bermane Stiverne.” “The show must go on, as they say, and we are all happy to see Deontay Wilder back in the ring again,” said Shelly Finkel, Wilder's manager. “Considering Stiverne’s status as a knockout artist and a former world champion, he is always going to be a dangerous fight for anyone in the division. Now it’s time to see if Deontay can clear that roadblock and continue on his path to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion and the most recognizable and dominant force in boxing.”
seems a lifetime ago now when Wilder had the world at his feet and mega bucks thrown at him to fight Joshua when both were undefeated. Greedy bugger
If true it's ridiculous. Stiverne is average a fight every two years since he lost to Wilder. He lost against Joyce and Bryan.
It's selfish, thoughtless posts like these that denied us the spectacle of @Dubblechin telling us what a great match-up this was and that taking on Stiverne would give Deontay the greatest resume in the history of heavyweight boxing. Hang your heads in shame. @Max Thunder
