Agreed. He was good at what he did, no question about that.

I think that Moore showed poor survival skills there. What he was doing was playing right into Marciano's strengths.

It's just my opinion, but were I to fight Rocky, I'd attempt to break his rythmn constantly. That would involve a lot of tying up, smothering, grappling etc. and doing anything I can to stop him building a head of steam.

Few would argue that Canelo is better than Moore, but better than that version of Moore that Rocky fought?
I don't see why that's a stretch. Moore was tactically awful against Marciano and despite still being formidable after this loss, was 42 years old, in an age where 42 was considered beyond ancient.

The Canelo that fought Kovalev was relatively young, strong and at the top of his game and one of the best fighters on the planet. Also fought a very smart fight.

    Not ridiculous at all.

I can't agree, it's still ridiculous. Moore was old, but he aged like a fine wine and he did quite well vs Rocky until last rounds.

I'm almost 100% sure that even this version of Moore would dominate Canelo.

    1) Kovalev had been in decline for some years. It was widely commented on.
    2) Kovalev was coming off a brutal fight vs Yarde.
    3) Kovalev was given a short camp for the Canelo fight, and not nearly enough time to recover.
    4) The weight restrictions imposed on Kovalev by Canelo ensured that he'd be virtually useless on fightnight. Kovalev himself laughed at any suggestion that he'd have had a chance to win that night.

My point being that while I agree Moore was long in the tooth, he was not as delapidated as Kovalev was and that the Kovalev fight is nothing to base Canelo's effectiveness against bigger fighters on.

I never argued Louis was prime, FFS. Nevertheless he still had something left in the tank or he'd not have gone 8-0 beforehand.

OK. Call me when Canelo fights at heavyweight, or cruiser.

Get a pair of spectacles my good man. I think you're watching Sesame Street.
Why TF would they fight at heavyweight today? They'd clearly be cruiser. Call me when canelo fights at cruiser.

Every once in a (rare ?) while, @Seamus enjoys his strong waters.

    It can be highly entertaining.

Last time he garnered this many indignant responses, he had BHop beating Dempsey.
