When he had cut Herring I was hopeful that it was a turning point in the fight but having seen Frampton come in quite soft on the scales, Herring stoppage was some of the easiest money to be made in boxing this year.

 

Was poor, had to wait about 10 minutes after the fight just to see that second heavy KD on the replay.

In fairness he never got Frampton in his prime. Carl was at his peak at super bantamweight was always small as a featherweight or above. That would not have changed regardless who was coaching him.

The problem was the style Frampton required to beat Herring was the one that had him so successful early in his career, fast feet with combinations up and down - stepping in and out of range easily. It just wasn’t there last night - he showed it in brief flashes but you knew it just wasn’t there when he stepped back but wasn’t able to judge the range properly and would still get caught with the long left hand. Shame but he went out a warrior.
