You completely missed the point. You claimed they never would have weighed what they did in the 70's. If they did the same old school training without lifting weights or taking PEDs then yes, obviously they would weigh the same. DURRDURR.
I didn't say he'd be finished as a fighter if he were 20 lbs heavier. I said whether he bulked up via weight lifting or simply ate more, he would not have the same stamina as his 185 pound self. The more you weigh, the worse your stamina is. This is common sense. He'd be a completely different fighter.
A semi-pro team, and didn’t they cut him because he was too slow? What sources have you seen listing his weight at 210-220 at the time?
Rocky was well over 200 pounds between fights. Whether or not he would have, or could have, fought effectively at that weight, for the right opponent, is something we will never know for sure. He did fight in the 190's a few times, and seemed okay doing that.
Now this guy fighting at 231 This content is protected was same trimmed weight than this fellow https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/rocky-marciano-lot-orig-4x5-negatives-526247134 ...... Honesty -->
The last one I read was 'The Rock Of His Times' by Russell Sullivan. Nowhere is it mentioned that Rocky weighed well over 200 pounds.
Lewis is 6'5", no reason to believe he wouldn't be entering the ring at 240. Carnera certainly did, but he didn't possess Lewis' skillset. Foreman was 6'3" and 225, and Frazier was 5'11" 225 when he fought George. I'm not saying there aren't fighters who could exploit his weaknesses and use their speed as an advantage. But there are also fighters who were nearly as big who could have cracked his chin just like Rahman and McCall. If Rocky were fighting today he'd be a Cruiserweight. Maybe not even the best CW. He would really need to drain down to 175 and fight at LHW, blow up on fight night to really make a name for himself in 2021.
There is because he was lifting weights to get up to 240. No trainer in the 1950s would have prescribed a training plan like that.
This more or less my take too. It could be a co-incedence that HWs started to get progressively bigger about a decade after steroids were introduced in American sports (1960's Olympics), but I don't think it is.
