Kind of hard to believe that of all of the truly great fighters out there that these two would be the OP's favorites. I definitely believe Botha was superior to Savarese. He was easily beating a shop worn Tyson when he got caught with one of the best right hands I have seen. He was always game but was definitely not a championship level fighter. With that said, he gave every ounce of himself in his title fight loss to Michale Moorer. Moorer landed some downright bombs on him before he finally stopped him in the 12th.
My favorite Botha fight has nothing to do with the actual fight, but I like the fight that the White Buffalo fought the Black Rhino (Clifford Etienne).
The Tyson fights Tyson lunging and dropping Savarese with a brutal shot to the corner of the head ... Was his first punch of the fight iirc And the titanic right hand he hit Botha with
I saw a lot more of Botha than Savarese. The last one I watched was when he faced Holyfield. By then both were very shopworn. Botha did what he always did, giving Holyfield something to think about before inevitably losing. Botha went in there with quite a few big names.
Thanks for all of the posts guys but if we exclude Tyson from the equation then what are your favourite fights of these two warriors
I always respected the White Buffalo. What he lacked in talent he made up for with guts. He’d step in with anyone despite lacking size, power, skills and speed. He’d always do his best though. Hats off to him.
