I'm one of those that subscribe to the theory that Lewis, prime Lewis, always beats any version of Tyson. Could be but that's my opinion after watching both from start of their careers.
But, saying that, this young version of Lennox against 89 version of Tyson..?.. I'm leaning towards Tyson but not by much. Lewis loses but on points. Just not enough experience at that point and Tyson was further on in terms of confidence.
Lewis loses by decision but shows his future greatness!

What did Lennox do to make you think he would beat the Tyson of the 80s even in his prime?

Beat everyone in front of him, two losses avenged, made God knows how many defence s, beat a future dominant heavy in his last fight, and retired has the champion??

Losses to Rahman and Oliver regardless if he is prime or not is telling-
Lennox avenged the fight against Rahman the one against Oliver was a sham- His fight against Mercer took him to a deep place Ray was looking flat, deconditioned and had not one meaningful win in about 3-4 years despite this he very well earned a draw or a very close SD loss- Old man Holmes however boxed Rays ears off in his prime.
Lennox was also nearly blitzed and stopped by Shannon Briggs who had just previously lost to a 48 year old man on honest cards. Fighters who were dominated by Old men in there primes should not trouble an ATG.

I don't know, apart from Mercer who gave him a tough fight, I don't see any more of those names taking Lewis close. He came in sloppy against Mccall and Rahman and paid the price, but he revenged himself.
He'd take Tyson seriously and hammer him in dominating fashion in his prime.. For me anyway.

Pre Steward Lewis pawed with the jab and telegraphed the right after, was off balance a lot and hardly clinched/leaned aka he did not fight tall.................that Lewis gets slept within four rounds max............if Tyson's sparring partner heavy bag McCracken can stop him with his eyes closed by one punch Tyson will put him down and out and he aint getting up.

So they could both be beaten, were both great. Douglas was better than McCall. Why is Lewis such a big favourite?
