Feels like whenever someone good loses to someone they shouldn’t they get absolutely killed for it constantly. Example being Joshua vs Ruiz etc these sort of fights or when a prospect steps up and gets beat aka Kelly vs Avanesyan, Yarde vs Kovalev etc or even down at British level where someone steps up and gets beat easily.

these things happen in boxing. 1 punch is all that’s needed to turn a fight or lack of experience may prove too much for the younger guy. Instead of hammering the guy who loses let’s respect the fact they either stepped up or actually give us a big fight instead of cherry picking constantly or imposing restrictions on fighters.

Maybe I’m talking out my **** and people completely disagree and if you’re just a mainstream guy who isn’t a big boxing fan then fair enough slander away the fighters who lose but if you’re someone who actually follows boxing closely you should be more than aware of the pitfalls of making big fights or younger guys finally stepping up in levels so we should be more understanding and respectful of the losers and not just crap on them.

I don’t like Wilder at all but I respect him for stepping up finally and getting into some good fights and risking it against Ortiz and Fury

Ruiz deserved a hard time for losing to AJ due to gluttony
AJ deserved a hard time after getting stopped on his feet against an underdog 3 weeks notice Ruiz
Wilder deserved a hard time for all his excuses after getting manhandled by Fury

I don't think people gave Whyte a hard time for losing to Povetkin because hey that's boxing.

I think Mayweather is to blame for creating this culture where losing your 0 makes you a bum

There is more impactful stuff than fans posts.
A lot of fighters doesn't have good fights after they had lost.
You are not in some pro mma where close lost fight on cards where you looked watchable and good, like in pro KB or MT doesn't impact career so much.
Of course if you are finished in distance 2 - 3 times in row, this will impact.
If you are watchable and entertaining and lost even 3 fights on cards in row in KB or MMA you still are needed for them, especially if you sell tickets.
    Pro boxing is unforgiving.

Of course if you already are someone not absolute noname and lost close fight vs someone notable while you are underdog promoters does know things and will place you somewhere. Fans might even yell that boxer appeared bad boxer.

If you are just up coming and then lost decision in pro boxing, this:D.

Therefore is this thing: better gave boxer 6 bums in row than close matchup.

not sure the reason but you see more guys in MMA come back from a losing streak than boxers. Like you almost never see it. Hell a lot of guys lose once and never fight again. I’d love to see a more organized boxing league where you could mitigate this. Boxing is a money sport except the top of the top. It’s like a lottery for promoters as very few guys will hit it big. Which is both the promoters and the fans fault. It’s ruthless how quick it’s like next dude up try and score a star.

Hey let them give fighters a hard time. Fighters see what pos fans they have. So that's why they wait a while to give em good fights.

Pro boxing fans are some of the best... and WORST fans in all of sports.

You can comfortably be top 10 in your weight class, lose to another top fighter, and all of a sudden you're a BUM  :shakehead:

Yes but I think we need we need to come down much harder on fighters who display below average punch resistance. We simply cannot have glass-jawed fighters representing our sport and expect it to be taken seriously on the world stage, unless that is you're OK with our beloved sport being seen as a laughing stock?

If there was such an emphasis on the "0", fighters wouldn't get a hard time.

I agree with all of this except for AJ Ruiz. That fight really entertained me, and two years later it is still funny and I'm not denying myself the joy of giving AJ a hard time.
