    Brutal knee.

He seemed a step behind anyway. Has the game passed him by?

Its different rules set, DJ would have lost more often in the UFC if Knees and elbows were allowed, also soccer kicks to the down opponents head.

"lost more often"...That isn't a completely fair assessment. Elbows were always allowed, and Johnson fought for years without worrying about knees to a downed opponent. MM may not have been as susceptible had he experienced this over a larger portion of his career.

I feel he still would have lost more often. The extra elements make it difficult to cope with.

I'm a fan of One FC's rules. I haven't seen upkicks become a factor, but I'm waiting for it! Lay and prey will be greatly altered.
MM fought superior opponents, with an inferior rule set, in the UFC. It's unfair to say he couldn't adapt, without giving him the chance to adapt.

I feel MM’s opponents would also be taken out of their elements within a less limiting rules competition, and they wont be considered all that good with different rules set to begin with, so thus calling them superior fighters is subjective without looking at proper context.

I have no problem with any of that.
I think that the UFC has a higher talent pool than any of the other organizations. I don't think knees to a downed opponent would be the forever kryptonite. I think the higher talent pool would adapt to the rule changes.

I'm not saying the UFC will always produce the superior fighter. I'm saying that the superior talent is currently auditioning for the UFC.

A lot of the superior talent in the UFC originally come from other smaller organizations, so there are probably hundreds of possible UFC candidates currently competing outside the UFC until of course the UFC finds them or they find the UFC.

DJ seemed to be a step behind. That uppercut was phenomenal yet brutal.

I think its better when knees to the chin are allowed on the floor, makes it more exciting

My dad is a 93 year old stroke victim and I'm his primary caregiver. His health changed for the worst, but he is still with me. My computer died and I just got around to replacing it. I can't stand doing the forum thing from my phone.
