Why isn’t there more clamour to make this match up instead of a fight with a semi-retired Khan.

It’s a much more interesting fight in my opinion.

Its a genuine fight mate and boxing dosn't do genuine fights anymore only mismatchs on PPV or YouTuber fights.
But i agree there should be more hype around this and the fans should be pushing for it.
But Benn will have been told not to mention Avanesyen is the post fight presser and to mention semi retired/shot fighter for some PPV loot.

Vargas must have actually caught Benn with a concussive shot during his 80 seconds in the ring because while Benn has managed to call everyone else out, he appears to have developed amnesia and totally forgotten that Avanesyen even exists.

Hearn has turned boxing into a soap opera where it's more about selling stories and characters than the actual quality of boxing. A fighter of the the level of Dave Allen being a go to name on big shows because of his social media presence, white collar level bikini models fighting for world titles, Dereck Chisora on his second PPV in a row, the list goes on. And now Conor Benn is about to become a PPV star without even fighting for a British title.

But as long as mugs keep lapping it up, Hearn and Sky will keep pushing it while they laugh all the way to the bank.

Makes no money compared to other options

Even if the other options are outlandish

    I agree.

Nigel Benn was calling out Shawn Porter before the Vargas fight, Hearn was talking Avanesyan and lamenting Kelly getting beaten.

Now they want an old shot Khan who was done years ago or maybe Kell Brook.

My personal feeling is it will be 39 year old Luis Collazo, long past any best and has a history of fighting big names.

Yeah. If he had British title or euro title he had been more respected and easier to sell him on ppvs than if he beated up a journeyman ranked below 100 in boxrec.

Another road to sell him on ppvs is to get well known old or shot boxers and gave him to beat up.
If eddie will manage Khan fight to happen and he for sure will stop Khan, no questions. Then after this maybe next corpse and ppv star will be born.
British title will not be necessity to have to be a ppv superstar.

I will be very surprised if Conor is matched in a fight where there is a real threat of him losing unless it's on PPV especially when he is so close be breaking the mass market.

If Conor fights David Avanesyen and loses in a similar fashion to Josh Kelly the mass market and PPV crowd will realise that he's not cut from a different cloth and the new improved version of his father.

His whole persona and image that is being marketed and sold to the general public is actually a caricature of Nigel, to the extent that if Spitting Image ever made a puppet of Nigel Benn it would actually look, sound and act exactly like Conor does

Conor is doing well but when you look at the likes of Vergil Ortiz, there are differences, not just in technique and fundamentals but also in training.

Ortiz is sparring regularly against the likes of Jose Ramirez, Mikey Garcia and Josesito Lopez whereas Conor is now approaching the same level as his regular sparring partners such as Cheeseman, Cordina, and Ricky Burns and that is why I think he is close plateauing and someone like Avanesyen will likely be a step too far.

    Yeah I agree

But they are the names they are shouting about, somebody will call their bluff at some point and it all becomes a
    Iittle embarrassing.

Maybe that's why they didn't call out Avanesyan, I'm sure his team would be all over a good offer.

100 per cent they would take it

    Everything to gain

Spare a thought for poor Marku who has now dropped even lower on Benns radar

What an unlikeable little man that one is

I forgot about Marku, in my opinion Eddie only signed him to stop the online push, there was lots of loud Albanians on social media slaughtering Benn for not fighting Marku and the noise was getting louder.

So Eddie steps in, signs him, promises the Benn fight "down the line" and now I believe Marku will be held back, he will barely get any action, a little like Callum Johnson just to keep any talk of Buatsi quiet and Marku will eventually sign with Frank Warren when he realises he has wasted a couple of years fighting on Hearns undercards and not moving forward and Benn will be out of sight.

Well, there are Scottish, British and Commonwealth titles, euro title. World title isn't mandatory to have to be on ppv I think.
However to be on ppv just cos journeyman and Khan will be beated up is worse than Chisora, Dereck at least fights with everyone he is given to fight with.
