Perhaps people are being a bit too quick to pick Ruiz over all and sundry.

He is still a member of the one good win club!

One thing people have to take into account is that IF Shavers knocks down Ruiz (which is a BIG if), Joshua knocked down Ruiz in their first bout, and was caught by a more dangerous Ruiz in the follow-up which led to his downfall. Not to mention, Shavers was a notoriously terrible finisher (see bouts against Lyle, and Holmes).

If that was the case, they wouldn't have been on the floor in the first place.

This is a biggie. Though Earnie was the MAN when it came to power, he was pretty scattershot on finishing. No question he could knock Ruiz down and rock his world. Out might be another matter. And Earnie didn't have a diamond chin (God how I love 'im).

I went with Ruiz by decision but he could also win with a knockout. As much as I like Shavers and can’t stand Ruiz’ style, I think Earnie would eventually get worn down.

Speed kills. Every real fan loves Shavers, of course, the archetypal all or nothing Heavyweight banger but you could never accuse him of being fast.
Ruiz has quick hands and feet and carries a dig. Great fight with the crowd baying for Earnie but Ruiz wins in 6.

I ****ing LOVE Shavers. He could've been an ATG, had he developed even basic fundamentals.

Even then he lacked stamina, durability and in some instances heart as when people fought back it usually resulted in him losing except against Roy Tiger Williams

Can't agree with heart. Just watch his bouts against Lyle, and Holmes. Durability either. His durability was solid. His stamina was the problem.

I like Ruiz in this one. I think he manages to get to Shavers before Shavers gets to him.
