Wilder's right isn't stopping Tua...which means Tua's getting close...which means goodnight sweet Bombsquad.

Ain't that the same Tua that went into a shell against Byrd? Probably the best legs ever in boxing though

Tua on these forums is very overrated and I think it's because people get hypnotized by his knockout highlights, Tua was usually very lazy and would just plod around the ring following guys in straight lines hoping to land a left hook, he wasn't lazy against a guy like Ike but that's because Ike was willing to stand and trade with Tua while a guy like Wilder wouldn't. Wilder just used movement and hits him with 1-2's constantly to a decision with a few shaky moments.

Lol you mean the grant that got folded by McCline in one second ? Tua is overrated but he could crack and was so good on the inside that Lewis didn't want to risk mixing it up with him. He'd eventually land on grant and execute him like he did Ruiz

Yeah, I'm thinking that is a likely outcome too.
Wilder has been counted out on the canvas how many times? Wilder doesn't have a glass chin is my point. He can hold shots well enough.

And Tua isn't outboxing Wilder if Wilder pot shots from the outside. Though I agree if Wilder is stupid enough to engage in a brawl and tries to trade, Tua likely KO's him.

But Wilder is a sniper not a brawler.
They are likely both overrated. But in this case height does matter.

Again Tua had next to zero success against men over 6'3" - first because he was only matched with smaller heavies and because the taller guys aren't going to stand in the pocket and trade with Tua.

Usyk is 6'3" and many consider him to be too small but he actually has incredible feet. Tua doesn't.

That is the elephant in the room. He was literally resorting to leaping at Lewis to try to overcome the 84" reach.

Most fights would devolve into Joshua v Ruiz 2, with Tua plodding after the taller guy who's keeping it long and unwilling to trade. If you take Tua's weapons away from him, what is his route to victory beyond a puncher's chance?

Maybe Wilder doesn't hit hard enough to stop Tua over 12. But if Tua can't catch up to Wilder. Wilder takes it on the cards.

You picked Grant because he is 6'7", yes?

Then, how is Grant breaking his ankle in the first round against a 6'6" McCline even relevant?

Just because other tall high level fighters could beat Tua by staying on the outside doesn't diminish what your hero did.

but Tua can hit the body, and Wilder doesn't have Lewis's knack for keeping him at a distance, Wilder is a very limited fighter who only relies on his power
If Tua had been trained by Eddy Reynoso, he would have been a great world champion, he is the type of fighter that Reynoso style suits him well.

But Lennox Lewis has elite level boxing skills Michael Grant did NOT. Just because you're tall does not mean you can box efficiently. Grant was a slugger and wasn't one to use his height or his reach and Tua would catch him. Same for Wilder. Also Grant didn't break his ankle until after he got floored. Wilder can jab but his jab is poor and he can't fight on the back foot well enough to evade all of Tuas shots. Wilder is a one trick pony. At least Tua could fight on the inside. Height matters but only to an extent.

The fact that you compare any of these guys to Lewis is insane. Lewis is an all time great. The likes of Tony Tucker or Tyson Fury or Usyk can box well enough to school Tua but not Wilder lol, hell even Joshua would be able to out box Tua effectively but WILDER ? no

This is the issue though, you make every discussion involving a fighter who fought Lennox Lewis into a thread about Lennox Lewis comparisons, and Lennox being an ATG.

All wilder does is box from the outside. Waits for someone to come at him in a straight line and pulls the trigger. If he doesn't hurt them, he resets. And tries again until he hurts the opponent then starts flailing around like a wild man with idiot strength. Crude but effective.

But this idea that only Lewis can box from the outside against a 5'10" plodder whose primary tool for closing a gap is to leap forward in straight lines is what is crazy to me. It doesn't take a master boxer to beat Tua.

To say Wilder can't fight on the back foot is one thing, but to say he can't box enough from the outside to get a win over Tua is what is crazy to me. It's literally all Wilder ever does. Wilder won the title by outboxing Stiverne (though admittedly a weak champion) which shows he isn't as basic as you are making out.

Whilst you are telling me I'm comparing Wilder to Lewis which you find crazy. It sounds like you are comparing Tua to Fury in this idea that Tua is going to constantly have wilder on the back foot and unable to set himself at distance. So which position is crazier.
    Wilder ~ Lewis
    Tua ~ Fury

Lmao at this thread. All the talk has been about Tua and who has he fought. I would ask who the hell has Windmill fought. He has struggled against less skilled opponents than Tua.

In fairness to Wilder he doesn't exactly have a renowned coaching set-up.

I'm truth, I am trying not to jump the shark on this. But whether you think Wilder was protected or not, he still defended his belt numerous times and so far has only been beaten by Tyson Fury who is 6'9" and over 250lbs. That deserves begrudging respect.

Though I personally think Povetkin would have beaten Wilder had they fought in Russia. But Povetkin had 4 inches on Tua and his whole game was designed to fight super heavyweights.

A better comparison would be to see how Ruiz Jr. does against Wilder if they ever fight.

I don't see the issue. My point is Wilder can't box effectively enough to keep tua at bay or move around like Lewis or jab like Lewis or control distance like Lewis. Even when Lewis did all of this he still got caught from time to time. He is not Lewis. Wilder will be on the backfoot because he would not dare trade with Tua and Tua would be constantly moving forward, forcing Wilder to continuously back up and pump out his mediocre jab.

    This content is protected

Lewis performed a masterclass. Constantly probing his elite level jab to guage distance and never overcommited like Wilder does, constantly moving around, blocking, slipping all the time, countering in spots, holding Tua off when moving out of range on the ropes, Lewis knew not overcommit when Tua tried to set him up for counters by keeping low. Wilder does not have that iq. Even with all of this he still managed to land some shots on Lewis. He'd put Wilder on bambi legs and he'd finish Wilder. Yes Tua had trouble with his height but thats because Lewis was amazing at using his height. Wilder is not. And lol at that bum Bermane Stirvene. It was 50/50 in there and Stirvene is nowhere near as good as Tua and i find Tua to be overrated. It does not take a master boxer to beat Tua but it still takes decent skills and Wilder is not that.

What you do not understand is that Wilder does not possess the skills to fight a tactical boxing match against Tua and avoid an inevitable knockout for 12 rounds. Lewis or Usyk or Tucker or Fury or Holmes or even Akinwande could easily. Hell even Joseph Parker could possibly pull it off as he showed a decent quick jab against Ruiz while backing up but Ruiz was landing a lot so who knows. But not Wilder. He's a one trick pony with no headmovemnt and poor footwork and footspeed who got outjabbed by D level Gerald Washington and got outclassed by Ortiz only to land a right hand. That 1 trick will not work on Tua and Tua will eventually land his combinations. He could outjab Tua but it wouldn't be long before he catching a big left hook like he did against Molina.

You think Wilder beats Joe Frazier too ? Lmao and no im not saying Tua is as good as Frazier but from what it looks like height means everything to u
