is this a possibility in the future for Cotto?

at 5-7, he'd be an awful short MW. but he's an inside fighter and body puncher so maybe he could make it work. he has a pretty stocky build.

obviously, he has no reason to leave welterweight for the time being and I know im getting ahead of myself, just curious if its a possibility. Who wouldnt want to see Pavlik/Cotto!!! battle of Bob Arum's pet fighters...he'll be torn.

160 would be way too much for him. maybe even 154 might be a stretch IMO. even though fighters at 154 arent world class, it still has some decent fighters that might be too big for cotto

He's good at 147, and at 5'7", he'll have no problem making the weight for the remainder of his career

Cotto will end up fighting at at least 154 before he retires. I think he can be effective...he's a pressure fighter.

Cotto moves even up to 154, let alone 160, and he's out of his depth.

His ability to do damage and take damage will be massively decreased.

Miguel should stay at 147. I think he'll beat Margo, and absolutely dominate the division for a few years.

i think he is gonna go up to 154, especially if he fights oscar in december. They might even fight at a catch weight of 150. oscar wont come down to 147. but on the other hand 160 is too much for cotto.

I am sorry but as good as Miguel is please try and remember your history a little bit. The greatest WW? Would he have defeated either Sugar Ray? Hearns? Armstrong? This is one of the deepest divisions ever, it is questionable that he even would have defeated Mayweather. Although I do think Mayweather pussed himself out of any real challenges at this weight, there is no doubt about his talent. Cotto is on his way to proving himself the greatest of our era in WW, but not all time.

I think Cotto should just be concerned of being the undisputed welterweight champion of the world and clean out the rest of the division. I believe that he will get more props and fame for doing that than Mayweather's 5-weight champion status. It will show all fans that Cotto fought all threats at 147 and proved that he was the best WW of this generation, something that PBF was but "only on paper."

Get real? That's as real as it gets. You are caught up in the hype, momentum, and name recognition BS, apparently. You aren't just looking at the fighter himself and making a realistic assessment.

Give it two weeks, I'll see what you're saying then.

I can see 154, but nothing above ever..
unless we are talking about a comeback Cotto sometime in 2015
