About the right level of opponent for it to not be a disgrace But the WBA make the WBC look like saints lol
I'm surprised that it is not the WBO. Does anyone have any idea why Frank has gone down this road? Is it because Joyce is going the WBO route?
It seems like a desperate move to be honest. Working your magic to have Dinu mysteriously ranked so high and then getting DD a shot at mandatory status may work for a cash out, but if he goes in against AJ now it may be his last fight. If he believes in DD as a long term project, pushing him into a WBA title fight seems ridiculous to me? He was badly exposed, there's so much work needs to happen. Maybe he doesn't think the kid has it and this is just a way of recouping his investment with a slim chance he gets a lucky KO?
Strange he can win this and become contender for the WBA World Title, despite losing to Joyce? Does that make sense?
Uncle Frank has pulled in some favours here. Dubois gets ruined and then is one, fairly easy, fight away from being a mandatory challenger.
Sensible move. I think Dubois is a very long way to rebuild though. More so than when Whyte was stopped against Joshua.
Here we go again......another 10 KOs in a row and Fwank telling the world no one wants to fight his msn bla bla bla then as soon as he steps up BANG!! Will take a while to get over his stoppage and his injury. As soon as he gets tagged in the eye again his brain willl take over. Great prospect but was told he was the real deal too early.
If he holds this silly strap though doesn't that preclude a two year diet of 10 cab drivers? Frank positioning him for a wba mandatory position suggests he will put him in the ring against whoever holds the title. Which on his last performance could see Warren reported to the NSPCC. Unless... Frank thinks winner of AJ vs Fury keeps the undisputed, lineal and ring titles and bins off the others. So he has Joyce in line for one and Dubois for another?
What do you mean? Undisputed means that the boxer would hold WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO, then as you say lineal and ring titles. WBA interim means mandatory for WBA (super), as far as I am aware (the proper title). And Joyce and Usyk were being spoken about for the WBO. Fury and Joshua will have a clause for a rematch, so I doubt Dubois would face Fury or Joshua straight after Dinu. He would probably beat up a couple of no hopers while holding the WBA interim belt. Boxing governance is so funny. Completely winged and driven by money.
Sorry I didn't phrase it very well. I mean the winner of AJ vs Fury will hold every single title and will truly be undisputed, At that point I expect some of the belts to be discarded, why tie yourself to an endless succession of mandatories when you can pick and choose with the status of the champ no matter who holds one of the alphabet belts?
I agree with that, but I believe that the reputation of "undisputed" with be quickly challenged without holding all of the belts, for that is what makes one undisputed by definition. It wouldn't take much one of the other belt holders to muddy the public consensus. That's why I put stock into the Lineal champion, but unfortunately the Lineal is not governed whatsoever and not marketed effectively independently by boxing journalism. The public's call is normally for belts and not for Lineal, so its credibility is always in question. For instance, boxing Seferi, Pianeta, Schwarz and Wallin for the Lineal does it no favours. It is a strange sport when you don't know who the best truly is, even when an era is years old.
