The athletic reporting matchroom are off to dazn. Shocked but after that interview and Barry stepping back perhaps it was obvious.

It kills matchroom as the place to build a profile. Door open for someone else...

So it's nearly been confirmed then that Eddie Hearn is taking Matchroom to DAZN minus Dillian Whyte and AJ

Always good seeing Sky getting shafted, but how long before the price rockets up.

    Sauerland's moving to Sky then?

Think Hearn has made a mistake here. DAZN UK don't have any other major sporting events right now apart from the Boxing from July do they not, so I don't see why people would subscribe to DAZN apart from Boxing fans, especially considering existing subscriptions to Sky Sports and BT sport for example.

Sorry but Fat Hennessy, the coke fiend from Sauerland and all the other assorted promoters are all dogpoo

Think Eddie has massively underestimated the power and reach of Sky here.

Yeah, he’s got a big profile but people didn’t turn in for Sky boxing because of him. They tuned in because it’s the premier tv brand in the UK. And even when the next promoter starts it will still pull in the same number of viewers as with Matchroom.

It will be interesting to see what the price of DAZN goes up to? It can’t be more £5 a month if they only have boxing surely?

Not necessarily DAZN’s fault but during the Andrade Williams fight, my TV lost its internet connection during round 4 and I couldn’t get it back so I just gave in in the end. So that’s going to be a big drawback for it too I reckon.

I know Coppinger noted the deal doesn’t include AJ or Whyte but I wonder if it means any show which would be deemed PPV at the moment will still be on Sky PPV and just the Saturday fight night type shows will be on DAZN.
Would be interested to know which platform a Chisora v Parker fight would be on.

Suppose this is what most have been predicting for a while. Be interesting to see who steps in with Sky now. Suppose the plus side is we won’t have to listen to Adam Smith on Matchroom shows anymore

No doubt Eddie will take a few of his cheerleaders with him like Bellew.

You'd imagine Frank Warren or the saurlands would try and get in there.

Sky will need something competitive to show on Saturday nights, at the moment they don't have anything else worth while watching, and certainly not live anyway.

    and Anthony Fowler.

I can just see it now.

Fowler retweeting about a million tweets praising DAZN, praising Eddie and about how pay per view is dead.

He's the type of mug that doesn't take long to switch allegiances.

He's probably changed his twitter bio to DAZN fighter already.

How much will DAZN cost now ?

£1.99 was really good value, but I will be cancelling once we get the official announcement.

I really cannot see this ending well for DAZN, without PPV the business model does not work, it only works with SKY because it's not just a niche sport platform.

How many new UK subscribers will they actually get due to this deal, 100,000 @19.99 is only 24,000,000 a year, boxing is a very niche sport and without AJ or Dillian Whyte included and the SKY platform to advertise the shows I think it's a really hard sell and a lot of pressure on guys like Conor Benn to drive subscriptions.

This is also a good opportunity for some of the small hall promoters to get back on the Sky platform, as I can't see them dropping boxing completely outside of PPV events. The Dave Allen comeback with Dennis Hobson actually makes a lot more sense now.
