CONFIRMED - Matchroom leaves Sky Sports for DAZN

Doesn't hearn have a stake in DAZN? So he has essentially negotiated his own deal?

 

This is what I figured would happen. How could Hearn possibly be running DAZN's international boxing schedule AND be their competition on Sky? DAZN will need some premier league games to make a real success in this country though, football is everything.

 

You can tell how powerful football is by the response to the Euro Super League and how successful it was. I can’t think of anything in this fractured country that would bring people together so quickly and to such great effect. Even saving the NHS wouldn’t have so good a response as most people stand on their doorstep clapping and then vote Tory ! If there was a boxing equivalent of a breakaway ( and this is in a way ), nobody would give a shite. I’m predicting DAZN going the way of Setanta and they had some football, the cost of which killed them.

 

As a boxing fan, Sky offers me nothing other than boxing. So this actually works well for me. BUT from an actual business point of view. Minus AJ and Whyte, how many people are going to pay £15 a month for purely boxing?

I really dont see it working, especially from the aspect of creating new talent, I think it will be very hard to create that buzz and fan base minus the Sky machine. Without the Sky machine how will it effect the ticket sales for his events?

 

Well. Without taking in to consideration the general public and what this means for British boxing. From a personal viewpoint, I already subscribe to DAZN (hopefully the price wont go up massively now) I watch Sky through Now TV, which is pretty damn expensive with the recent price hike, combine that with the ridiculous PPV's, like Whyte vs Parker coming up, as well as the lack of Adam Smith. I'm cool with this.

A lot of the boxing Market on sky derives from football and the sky platform. I think this is difficult for any other broadcaster in the UK to replicate unless they gain a significant amount of the football coverage. And by significant, I mean a majority.

 

Woah!!! that is a lot more! Considering I've been paying £33 a month for Sky (not including PPVs) I also get to watch Premier league, NFL and F1. Oh well, as I said, no Adam Smith is worth £10 a month out of the fee!

 

If they are shelling out 7 figs per show on average, they are going to need a massive amount of subscribers even at 15£.

Its not moving to £15 per month. Ive heard it will be priced somewhere between £6.99-9.99 per month.

The rumour is that the deal will give DAZN the option to show the UK shows in all territories.

 

Would pay £6 happily.

Not a chance will it be 15 quid with what they have to offer at present.

If they were to secure Premiership football then maybe but with out something like that it won't go much past £5 i reckon.

 

You never know. They did a survey recentley and you have alot of Hearns cult literally begging to pay more.
