Mike did not have the reflexes he used to have. The openings were there. Lewis cashed in on it, but Tyson was no longer quick enough to step in and fire a right hand in over that horrible jab Ruddock threw. Ruddock fell in when he threw it and left his hand low. Bang--He never saw the Lewis right hand.

He left a big window to be countered by a right hand his whole career.

Ike would have come right over ther top of that jab, as would have Holyfield and Bowe.

 

Ike is incredibly overrated but then again, is Ruddock. Shockingly Ike is actually the better overall boxer with 2 modes of attack: boxer puncher or relentless slugger. After Ruddock invented his smash he became a 1 armed brain dead slugger. If you could somehow convince Ruddock to use his excellent job from before the Tyson fights this bout would be very interesting.

On paper you would have to favor Ike slightly due to the styles but it would be a hell of a fight for as long as it lasts.

 

That’s hyperbole. Watch him fight Phil Jackson (post Tyson). He didn’t look like a brain dead slugger.

Ruddock against Ike would be Ruddock’s fight to lose. If he actually stayed disciplined, he’d win. If he got stupid, he’d get himself stopped or get lucky and take Ike out.

 

Ruddock is too inactive and his only clear advantage is power, which happens to be the one attribute that does not count for squat against the president. He will be outworked to a stoppage. You could argue Ike is more proven then Ruddock with two high level wins, to Donovans???

It's difficult to say Ruddock would stop Ibeabuchi he's never been dropped. Ruddock never had the Tyson chin to be successful with his aggressive style. The President stops him late.
