No Joshua. BJS loses in 16 days leaving one UK World Champ who boxes 3 minute rounds.
9 figure deal for Okolie and some women boxers? Is that believable?

PDC signed a 7 year deal with Sky in 2017.

Sky didn't lose all the sports you mentioned to competitors. Sky gave up La Liga because the price La Liga wanted wasn't realistic. They gave up WWE as WWE popularity has declined massively and the PPV buys were really low. BT got WWE for cheap.

Ashes cricket in Australia is with BT as BT have a deal with cricket Australia but I would argue the Ashes home series are far more important considering the Ashes in Australia is on from midnight.

Just for context, at £6 per month, just to turnover £1,000,000 a year they would need 13,800 people subscribing. For a boxing only channel, with no big names in reality. We are talking

    Derek Chisora
    Okolie
    Ritson
    Callum Smith
    Liam Smith
    Billy Joe

How many people are going to subscribe? For boxing fans I think it is great actually, but from a long term point of view I just dont see it.

Matchroom boxing has 457k followers. If ever single one signed up it would generate £33,000,000 a year. I just dont see boxing has the audience to sustain the numbers being talked about.

I think solely from a British POV you're right. Essentially it's Sky that pull in the customers for Eddie to work with. And nothing has been a big a force as SSNews. But Hearn is probably thinking long term and worldwide. Sky have no bearing on how MR will be working in the U.S and worldwide market and we all know how much Eddie values taking over the U.S market.

    Sky Sports News trumps everything.

It is where the casuals - who'll part with their coin - gain their news.

DAZN (I am a subscriber) haven't got this "casual angle".

Sky gave up on the WWE because of the way the E played them when sky won the rights on the last TV deal. WWE made no mention about the WWE network during negotiations. Once SKY won the rights they then announced the network not long after. Sky never forgot about that so told Vince where to go once the deal came to an end.

The downside is that this is a streaming version of Boxnation with the action 60 seconds or more behind the live action.

Eleven Sports UK bought the rights for Spanish and Italian Football but failed within 12 months because people would not subscribe to a streaming service with pictures so far behind.

Eh Day would be far more successful getting a channel on Sky like Premier Sports, BT Sports and Boxnation.

I remember when DAZN US was launched I made a thread here arguing that the numbers didn’t make financial sense at all. Sure enough they had a few problems with their numbers and very quickly raised prices soon after launching.

As you say the numbers don’t really make sense. The more you think about it the whole DAZN operation probably is some sort of money laundering scheme. Kinahan probably involved lol.

Does anyone know if DAZN intend to get the DAZN App added to the list of Apps on the Sky Q Box?

Done a software update and it is still not there.

Eleven sports failed as the amount of football fans prepared to pay extra for access to foreign football is tiny.

I think it has to be, look at DAZNs loses to date. It just isnt sustainable without other major sports.

Like the amount of sports fans willing to pay extra for a boxing service?

Correct. I posted before that it requires other sports I just don't see the hardcore boxing fan being enough.

It's not the same as Eleven Sports in the sense La Liga and Serie A football were always niche and was never the most popular football people watched.

This is slightly different in the sense Matchroom boxing was the defacto #1 promotion and the biggest promotion for fight fans so the actual value it holds for DAZN is a lot more than what La Liga and Serie A held for Eleven Sports but still for DAZN to really work it will require taking people from Sky Sports rather than getting sky sports subscribers to add another subscription service to there bill.

The only way you can take subs away from sky sports is with top quality sport and there just isn't enough of that avaliable right now.

Im stil confused why DAZN would pay 9 figures for the UK cards? Have they not seen the quality of them?
