I think Maidana won the first half and Floyd the second. First 6 rounds Floyd didn't really do a lot of what he's known for doing.

Maidana fought a dirty fight and still clearly lost. Could have lost multiple points for his tactics and antics.

Maidana won. floyd hardly done anything until the 7th round, Maidana landed more shots than he was credited for, Maidana took the fight to floyd, made him look clueless at times.

Basically all you need to do is ask yourself if both fighters were not superstars and had that fight in another country then Floyd would have been handed the loss. everyone knows it! Just the floyd fans and boxing forum snobs like to hang off floyds sac and say he was the goat and this and that but everyone knows he lost and thats why he rematched. Look at floyds face at the end of the fight he looked like a beaten man but he knew he just had to ride the fight out and win some later rounds to get the nod.

Good on him for taking the rematch but it was clinch fest. It's also to be noted that floyd was going through a lot of personal stuff with gold digger mrs jackson around that time so maybe why he wasn't at his best.

This was the toughest fight Floyd had on Showtime at the end of his career.
I enjoyed this one way more than anything else he had done in the last several years and it was 10 times more action than watching him break down PAC.
In the end Floyd edged the fight but it was very close and a draw was not out of the question

I had it a draw and Floyd was dominant in the rematch.

You could make a (weak) case for a draw.

I scored the fight narrowly to Floyd (7-5) and the rematch by a wider 8-4.

By my scoring, though, Floyd already had an L on his record to JLC in their first fight.

Maidana won the first fight by winning more rounds. Floyd spent too much time shelling up not doing anything but slightly moving and taking hits on his shoulders. People seem to give him too much credit when he does that more out of a (well earned) rep as being a defensive wizard, rather than looking at the fight objectively. That defensive posture is all well and good when you fire back hard counters that land, but in Maidana 1 Floyd's counters were tentative, had no mustard on them, and frequently missed.

For the rematch, Floyd hired his personal body guard, Kenny Bayless to make sure Maidana was not allowed to fight in close quarters. Combined with a good running away strategy (and probably his patented IVs) Floyd won that second fight easily.

    I had Maidana winning a complete shut out - i.e. 12 - 0.

Floyd lost every round and had he not stayed on his feet then he probably would have been knocked down.

Maidana had to use Floyd's pillow gloves and also won the weigh in and ring walk.

Floyd won the rematch despite his terrible ring attire and was clearly roided to the gills.

No you're going to sit here and act like maidana wasn't dirty? Are you going to act like he didn't foul knee and bite pbf in that fight?? He was dirty as hell and should've had a point taken away. Too bad for him he blew his load in the 1st half of the fight and had nothing left for the second half. There's a reason why in the rematch he didn't come out guns blazing like he did in the 1st fight because he was trying to conserve energy.
