well overated is a relative term. I try to take a historic look at this question. If he's not overrated than his weight class is horible. Just think hatton is the man in this division and Malignaggie is the number one contender. For this division hatton should at best be a contender and PM should be just inside the top 20. So what i'm basically saying is this weight division sucks. Manny Pac and Katsidis could both move up and beat these bums.
Holt lost in questionable fashion to a guy that would probably beat Paulie. Many people thought Paulie got a gift decision over C level Ngoudjo. Bradley has beaten a solid B level fighter. Name one solid B level fighter that Paulie beat. Name a top 50 JWW that Paulie beat besides Ngoudjo and N'Dou. So Bradley has beaten 1 top 50 guy, Paulie has beaten two. So if either one of them can beat a C level fighter who was given his title in the middle of the night, then they can be compared to Paulie? Since you think you can accurately judge Paulie's quality , what does he do well in the ring besides jab?
The term "overrated" refers to many things, most of which have nothing to do with lists. Malignaggi gets feature articles and writeups, his name dropped on national and international TV broadcasts (without matches), and a ton of industry buzz. And what does he actually amount to? ****, compared to what he's actually comprised of. That's overrated.
That's not overrated, thats over published. If everyone was on here saying he was a future ATG at 140, now that would be overated. I think most people think of him as a decent little fighter who is currently the no 1 contender in the division, and it is difficult to pick anyone on current record to place above him.
If Paulie wasn't fighting Hatton, you wouldn't be defending him. You know damn well that he does nothing well except jab, and that he has yet to beat a solid B level fighter.
alleged is the right word. Boxing rankings as a whole are a joke. before the pavlik-lockett fight the wbo had lockett as it's number one contender. after seeing lockett i couldn't imagine him cracking the top 10 in my neighborhood.
He may well do, but Holt has lost 1 of his last three. He has only just won his title which has got him entered into the Top ten for the first time. It was hardly the cleanest of wins as well on the back of that head-butt. Pauli has defended his title three times, Holt has never once defended a title. For those reasons and alike that is why Pauli currently sits above him in the Contender rankings.
So because Holt lost 1 of his last 3 he cant beat Paulie? That makes no sense. Holt has wins over Torres, David Diaz, Arnaoutis, and Isaac Hlswayo, who's better than anybody Paulie has beaten. And stylewise, Holt is just a bad matchup for Paulie.
