Would Nortons style be problematic for Usyk like it was for Ali and Holmes or would Usyk find a way ?
Usyk fights nothing like Ali or Holmes. Ali and Holmes fought with their hands low and tried to rely on slipping Nortons jab all night. Usyk is a mobile high guard boxer. Norton would be jabbing Usyks guard rather than his chin like the other two. Catching punches on his guard then countering is Usyks bread and butter. Norton doesn't pose the same stylistic threat to Usyk as he did to Ali and his doppelganger. Whether Usyk wins or not I don't know, Norton was a very good fighter.
Norton knocks out the most overrated fantasy fight heavyweight on this forum. Usyk has done nothing to warrant the belief he'd beat Ken Norton
Yeah, modern boxers, especially modern former high level amateurs usually does use medium height, shifted or high guard since jabs are very important tool to score in high level amateur fights. Bear in mind that forums users usually does not create their own ranking systems to rank Usyk or anyone else. To use these rankings established in western world is easier: click, click and you get all most important rankings for free and almost immediately. I don't know. With jabbing alone he will not beat prime Usyk. He should had add power punches, hooks etc otherwise he didn't had landed enough jabs on prime Usyk to get decision win.
People actually believe that anyone who had that type of trouble with a four round Chisora would do well against Norton. Then again these are the same groupies that claimed Lomachenko would beat Floyd at 130 and 135.
Usyk almost always loses the first few round. A lot of fighters in history were like that. Mayweather famously dropped the first 3 to 4 rounds in most of his fights.
Nortons style was problematic for every.style except KO punchers....he was impossible to time...but I see Usyk winning a decision
Be an interesting match up. Usyk uses a high guard with punch volume, but Norton was great at looping in body shots around people's guard. Usyk also gives away the early rounds. Norton's herky-jerky cross arm defense may also give Usyk problems. I say The Black Hercules takes this in an exciting scrap.
