Robbie Davies Jr has chose to leave the Ingle Gym

There seems to be a trend here of fighters moving to the Ingle gym not improving, losing very quickly, then leaving

Jake Ball moved to Ingle Gym, lost, then left
Lee Reeves moved to the Ingle Gym, lost, then left
Jason Quigley moved to the Ingle gym, lost , then left
Robbie Davies Jr moved to the Ingle gym, lost, then, left.
(maybe Yves Nagbu has left after his loss too)

The Ingle gym are clearly having terrible results lately. It can't be a good gym to be in at the moment, with everyone losing.

(Liam Williams, and Willy Hutchinson just lost also, wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them will be on their way too)

Not suprised in the least that RDJ has left Dom.
Robbie must of felt let down with that strategy in his last fight. Robbie was crying out that he wasn't comfortable staying spaw and forcing a fighter to fight out of his own style and tempo for the first time in a big fight sgainst a decent opp isn't wise.

Very interesting topic at the moment. The best way to get to the bottom of what is going on is to get down your local boozer and open up the discussion with whoever is there at the time. Boozers across the land should be full of this discussion by the end of the week with a resolution found by this time next week.

 

Well remember his dad spreading fear and anxiety amongst the LM/MW on the armature scene in the early 70s, my oh my, how he could punch, he had a run up to the ABA final one year with 6 ( count em ) 6 first round KOs, only to be out boxed by Roger Maxwell, him and Joe Lally were a force to be reckoned with, good memories..... keep well.

 

Whilst this seems a bit of a jokey thread and a pop at Ingle, I’m not at all surprised. RDJ was so much better when he boxed orthodox in the last fight but Dom would not let him box southpaw and bollocked him every time he asked. RDJ should have taken responsibility himself and box the way HE felt was best in that situation - usually I’d say it’s a red flag not listening to your corner but in that instance I would say justified.

In the first 3 rounds RDJ was shipping the right hand and was dropped heavily. He looked like he would do well to make the 6th round. Changing tactics got him back in the fight which he narrowly lost. If Dom had let him carry on Josh Warrington-style and he had been beaten up and stopped would no-one have criticised him?

I agree that it was a good short-term plaster to allow him to avoid the right hand a bit better, but eventually he was getting beat up and hit a lot in the southpaw stance and had no offence boxing out of that stance - last 3 rounds in a fight he was losing he should have been given the chance to go for broke. Robbie’ s not going to get many more chances now - he’ll almost be certainly be in the away corner when he does now - can’t afford stupid slip ups like that.

Fairly obvious (and I mentioned this in the RBR) that during the opening rounds of the Valenzuela fight he was not happy with instruction or game plan been given by Dom Ingle.
