Okay the premise is you have a time machine...you can choose which calender year you arrive in.....when your body dematerialises ...it will be January of that calender year...and you will arrive as the worlds biggest boxing promoter with unlimited funds to make any matchups you like in that calender year (January-December)........

So which year would you land in?.........

And what fights and matchups would you make? (List as many as you like)

Do I want to make money, or to change history?

    Critical clarification!

1952 lot of good fights happened that year but if I were to switch some around.
Archie Moore v SRR instead of Maxim (almost happened too I think)
Archie Moore v Jersey Joe Walcott
Rocky Marciano v Bob Baker (instead of Matthews)
    Rex Layne v Nino Valdez
    Lastarza v Harold Johnson

Feb 10, 1990. I immediately place several large bets on the 42-1 underdog James “Buster” Douglas. With careful laser like precision I place and win bets, betting on the underdog with a 100% success rate, cashing out at Ruiz jr. vs Joshua.

I then use my enormous wealth to fulfill my lifelong dream of shooting a shot for shot remake of Gladiator with all little people.

I would stay at today, and and since my power is nearly unlimited as you say...I would work out an 8 man tourney in each division to unify the belts in all divisions.

For example ....im landing in January 1989

I'd make Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler an offer they couldn't refuse financially to rematch in mid March 1989 (I can do this and everything else as I've got DAZN money in 1989).

Being a Lloyd Honeyghan fan I'd immediately have him cancel the Starling fight on an injury . I"d offer Lloyd a contract that means no more philandering and partying,a move to America under Eddie Futch and Mackie Shilstone and 5 fights in 1989 (2 non title to stay active as used to happen eg JCC in those days..........in early 89 instead of Starling he would have 2 non title fights to get back to boxing not wild brawling than in the summer he fights Terry norris.....if as I expect he wins....he meets Starling at the end of the year a rejuvenated fighter.

Donald Curry i would've similarly signed up in Jan cancelled Jacquot and got Gil Clancy and Archie Moore out to train him....Don would be remotivated by the money especially the $1,000,000 signing on fee ,promise of more and relatively easy schedule id put him on...in late1989 ready to step up he fights John mugabi ......and dissects him in 5 impressive rounds....

Gerry Cooney id have make a Foreman like fight monthly comeback throughout the year while paying for his rehab

Tommy Hearns id have him fight Mike mccallum in summer 1989...... the winner fights Curry.

Speaking of McCallum at a press conference I'd have arranged to announce my signing him and others Mike would kick off about Hearns,Hagler, and SRL avoiding him...it would get quite heated.

After Roberto Duran defeats Barkley id sign up a third srl fight Roberto's getting $7 mill but like the big tymer i am id dangle an extra $10 mill if roberto wins ...Felicidad Duran hearing this would force Duran to train and fight to win....

On the HW scene id sign up Mike tyson -George Foreman for Christmas 1989 in Tokyo in what appollo creed would call a "gala extravaganza" ......the undercard would be all Heavyweight and feature

    Frank Bruno vs Gary Mason

    Riddick Bowe vs Lennox Lewis

    Tim Witherspoon vs Evander Holyfield

In the lighterweights.....id set up 2 x super six world boxing spectaculars.

    Tony Lopez,Barry Mcguigan,Jeff Fenech,Brian Mitchell,Jorge Paez,Antonio Esparragozza.

....& Pernell Whittaker,JCC, Hector Camacho,Azumah Nelson,Meldrick Taylor, and Roger May weather.

At Middleweight ....Id finance a immediate Michael Nunn-Sumbu Kalambay rematch by having Sumbu beat pre Miami Nigel Benn in June.

Id have Julian Jackson fight Steve Collins in summer and Herol Graham get a fight vs the mccallum-Hearns winner

May 1940, with a bag full of Reports, getting the message to the Gilroy camp to ensure he doesn't go on that Military Excercise which ended in him 'Breaking his Pelvic Bone'...

then perhaps the Greatest Middleweight Showdown in British Boxing history, between him and Jock McAvoy would have taken place - June 10th 1940, Bellevue Manchester, as schedualed.

    the Bets are in!!!

seems, they have removed the Gilroy ACTUAL Reports,

remember that the next time someone tries to say Bert's book was inflated with no evidence to support it... seems even on a Boxing Forum, some people would rather 'the Reports' never get seen.

I'll try another here, from none other than Jimmy Wilde, who became a Boxing Commentator for the "News of the World" paper... this mentions 'both' Titles Bert was No.1 for.

    https://www.facebook.com/Bert-Gilroy-1933-1950-503149766487621

Ok, I split the link, copy and join it back together, you'll see the REPORT!

This is a very interesting topic. OK, with unlimited resources I will pick the year 1973 to make matches I would have liked to see.

Flyweight - Venice Borkorsor v Chartchai Chionoi in an all Thai affair - naturally to take place in Bangkok. It would have to be early in the year before Borkorsor moved up.

Bantamweight - Rafael Herrera v Romeo Anaya (unification match) with a 12 round final eliminator on the undercard pitting Enrique Pinder v Rodolfo Martinez

Featherweight - Ernesto Marcel v Ruben Olivares for the WBA featherweight title

Jr. Light - Kuniaki Shibata defending against Sammy Goss with a co-featured 15 rounder for the WBC title pitting Ricardo Arredondo against Ben Villaflor

Lightweight - Roberto Duran v Rodolfo Gonzalez (unification match) with a 12 round final eliminator pitting Ken Buchanan v Esteban DeJesus

Jr. welterweight - Antonio Cervantes v Bruno Arcari (unification match) with a 12 round final eliminator between Alfonso Frazer and Carlos Gimenez

Welterweight - Jose Napoles v Eddie Perkins with a 12 rounder between Armando Muniz v Roger Menetrey

Middleweight - Carlos Monzon gives Bennie Briscoe a rematch with a final eliminator between Rodrigo Valdes and Tony Mundine

Light heavy - Bob Foster v either Victor Galindez or John Conteh. The undercard features a 12 rounder between Jorge Ahumada and Len Hutchins

Heavy - George Foreman v Jerry Quarry with a final eliminator between Oscar Bonavena and Ken Norton or maybe Joe Frazier v Ron Lyle or maybe both.

    Endless possibilities here.

I would go back to 2016 as after that, this forum had an influx of attention seeking dimwits.
