If Wilder is trying to dig his heels in for a 3rd fight (which he showed no interest in before the deadline was up) and threatening breach of contract to Fury, why doesn't Fury counteract with a libel claim against the million bull**** claims/excuses that Wilder has publicly spouted since his loss? I'm no legal eagle but surely you shouldn't be able to publicly accuse Fury of all-sorts of cheating with no proof and get away with it. Then on the other hand try and force him to take a 3rd fight even though he wouldn't commit to any dates before the so called deadline?
Because Wilder is still the 2nd biggest fight for Fury in the division. Fury's a smart man, Wilder's narrative about cheating is creating a story for the 3rd fight.
Yes but the wilder fight would be a drop in the ocean compared to 2 Joshua fights. Why let Wilder throw a spanner in the works?
The other thing I can’t work out is the Wilder one and two fight barely broke even. Neither PBC or Top Rank were interested in the third fight as there was no money in it. funny how now AJ fight is becoming complicated that Team Fury are using the Wilder fight as a negotiating tactic
Agreed. I think he wants a tickover like Kabayel before going into it. Top Rank can probably make the money up now crowds are coming back. It’s mental his promoters couldn’t scrape the money together given the likes of Matchroom got their whole stable out during the pandemic including AJ and Canelo twice. There’s been nothing but negativity coming from the whole of Camp Fury including Fury, Arum and Warren.
Surley Fury vs Whyte in England (and maybe Usyk too) would be bigger draws in England than a 3rd fight with Wilder in Vegas or New York. I know Fury fails to sell as expected in England, hence he refuses to fight the UK again but Whyte and Usyk are both big draws here.
You keep saying this but Fury has been waiting around for months for Hearn to finalize this "offer" and "deal" he keeps saying he's made. Even Hearn doesn't deny that Fury wants the fight. He knows Fury wants it. It's obvious to everyone that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua want to fight each other next ideally, and for the XXX millions that Hearn has been telling them "is on the table". Fury's promoters, and all the broadcasters, haven't got in Hearn's way. They've all said, okay Eddie, do your thing with your Arab friends, get it done, great. Problem is, we were having the same discussion a month ago, and two months ago, and Hearn was saying "it's almost done" back then, same as he is saying now. Everyone keeps waiting for him because he says he has this great deal and "it's almost done!" The only thing that is really sabotaging this fight is Eddie Hearn's bull****. If he makes the fight now, we can all raise a glass to him and admit he came good in the end with a great deal. But if he can't secure the deal, there's no point blaming others.
Latest news coming out is that Fury v AJ is now going to be a one off fight, no official rematch clauses
The noises about this fight are far less positive last 48 hours. I'm sure it'll happen, but it's really boring waiting around for it to be confirmed.
That'll be great, IF it happens at all. I'd much rather watch it knowing there is no "two fight deal", which is really just an invitation for them all to scam the paying public.
The only reason I'd want more than a 1 fight deal is on the proviso that one of the fights happens in the UK. Then again, I wouldn't want to see Fury and Joshua delay the rest of the division with their and their promotion's greed. It's not fair on the others in the top 10.
Maybe, but even with a tune-up I honestly don't think he will fight AJ. Tyson isn't about the money, and he knows Hearn is ALL bout the money. So Tyson will spite Hearn just so he doesn't get the big pay day, you wait and see.
But Tyson doesn't want it. He wants a tune-up, Arum wants Wilder 3 now, so it won't happen. Also, between Tyson not wanting to give Hearn his biggest payday, and Arum being unable to make ANY big fight at all now because he is so useless, Wazza having no say in it unless it's here, it won't happen.
