Getting bored of this now, going round in circles. I’ve never liked AJ much but I’m going off Fury big time now aswell. He’s coming across as a giant bellend
Reading between the lines I suspect Arum wants the fight to happen in the US - preferably Vegas. It’s all just greed and very boring.
All I'm hearing from Eddie Hearn is the same old "I'm doing all the work" and pleading for recognition. He's managed to make Fury-AJ fight all about how great Eddie Hearn is. He should just shut up and get the deal done.
It's not happening. I wouldn't mind seeing Fury spank Wilder about all over again to be honest. Not a good look for Hearn this.
It's funny people are saying "Fury doesn't really want it without a tune-up" .... then saying he's going to be fight Wilder next ! Since when is Deontay Wilder a "tune up" ? If anyone else fought Wilder it would be considered a seriously risky, very dangerous, REAL serious, very real FIGHT.
I think you're right though, the longer this goes on the longer I feel Arum is the sticking point. I suspect he wants it in Vegas really and doesn't want it in Saudi which isn't as beneficial commercially from his POV. I just want to see the fight, getting so tired of all this messing around.
Exactly. Of course both fighters want it. I think ideally Fury would've liked a tune up fight, but I don't get the impression it's a deal breaker. Despite his bravado he knows he'll need to be on top form for Joshua - he jokes around but he takes the sport seriously. Fighting Wilder has a very real risk of completely upsetting the apple cart.
Yeah, Wilder's the ABSOLUTE WORST opponent possible if they were wanting a "safe path" tune-up towards a Joshua mega-fight. Despite what Fury did to him last time, and what we would 'expect' Fury to do again, it's a very high-risk fight. The more rounds you go with Wilder, the more times you fight him, the closer you get to him landing that fabled 'equalizer' that can instantly make a mockery of all the rounds you've bagged, all the punches you've landed against him. If Fury fights Wilder next, it will be because : 1. The Joshua fight was not finalized, it fell through (blame whoever you want). and 2. Wilder's people have a valid contract and a strong case for their lawsuit, which means Wilder is on course to take a % of Fury's purse for the AJ fight anyway ! it's certainly not because Fury "needs a tune up".
Would be a huge risk and it would be so typical if Wilder got the win. I hope that doesn't happen because I want to see AJ vs Fury. I can understand the 'tune up' thing, but I suspect ESPN don't want that really as obviously they want to make as much revenue from Fury given the contract they have with him.
I’m pretty confident it’s on and will be announced next week. If it’s not done by the end of next week I’ll change my tune. Realistically none of us have any idea as to the extent of the complexities of the deal so we just need to be patient.
