This times 10! One thing about Ward was he literally cleaned out his division and beat every type of fighter from bangers like Abraham, Froch, Kovalev to boxer's like Kessler and Dawson. He may not have been exciting to some which is fine but he was an exceptional fighter that was successful from the amauter ranks through the pro ranks.
I liked him a lot and like him as commentator. Too bad he was inactive during his peak years due to injury and contract disputes, but he made a great come back. I can see that many don't find his style pleasing, but I think he was good value to watch.
I agree with 99% of this. I think Ward vs B Hop would be a close, tactical fight low on explosive fireworks but high on strategy and skill. The only thing I will say (respectfully) is that you favor nearly everyone over Hops lol.
I was very fond of him. A class guy with awesome athleticism and fun to watch. He demonstrated his skills against some of the best available fighters in his division(s). I’m not certain how history will remember him as he didn’t have that many fights and shared an era with quite a few bright stars. If nothing else, it could be said that he was a very solid champion with room for imagination.
