Ray Mercer actually came up to Lewis the night before the '88 Olympic final and told Lewis he wanted him to "knock that lazy piece of **** out". When your own teammates want you to lose, you're doing something wrong...
Just looking at that really puts saturday's fight in to perspective. I forgot big guys could move that fast and be that athletic.
that wasnt the real ruddock anYway..,he had flloyd patterson trying to make him a "boxer"..,forget it.not saying he woulda atLL but no way he outboxes him. bowe on the night he beats holy I..,he has to be favored over LL. LL was not worth the risk at that time..,but in 94 there were talk of BOWE-LL.then LL gets starched in 2 against oliver mcall..,and a year later bowe stop holy..,so for a year after that ill still favor big daddy. but after that bowe was not into it anymore 252 against the foul pole..,pure ****.and the 235 against him in their second fight was even worse.but man he had heart that night!!! but here not only do i favor LL HUGELY..,i think he brutaliszes FAT DADDY!!! this is the fight of my time that i wanted badly..,just too bad it never happened!!!! **** fight managers and promoters!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAN SEASON
Lewis was only fighting with half of his future potential against Ruddock, when Manny finally grabbed him in 1995 Lewis became a destroyer with serious intent.. he gained 20 pounds of muscle and learned to fight with a bit more spite... Bowe was always wary of him and so was Tyson. In fact i was at the Tyson v Mathis fight when Lewis approached Mike after the press conference just to say good luck, Mike did a double take of Lewis as if to say "**** he is a f**king monster."
