I think McCllelan’s power coupled with Barkley’s inconsistency and poor defense would make for Gerald winning by knockout... Not a forgone conclusion however.
Iran, tough as they come, would go head to head with McClellan, and that's a disaster. Gerald win s in a mini war, with both rattled. McClellan wins by ko 5.
Truth be told. Did Gerald ever have a durable, bigger and stronger MW come at him? Gerald’s most impressive KO is of course Julian Jackson whom while not glass was a small MW and not particularly durable.
I just see Gman has being faster, harder puncher here. He also took Jackson s shots in the those two fights, and I see him doing the same with Barkley s. Tbh, I don't like picking against Iran, he s one of my favorite action fighter s, but in this case I see him getting stopped.
I can definitely see McClellan winning but he wasn't really proven against tough opposition. His best win by far was against a past-prime Jackson (cracking win though it was) and that's it. Barkley was no less hittable but no less tough than Benn and I think he could tough out the early onslaught and take McClellan to the same deep water as Benn did (obviously not wishing for a similar aftermath).
I don't know If I can favour either truth be told, I think it's pretty even though I lean ever so slightly to Gerald.
Barkley was most vulnerable early as a slow starter as you can see in the Benn fight .. G Man was very fast out off the gate .. I favor G Man early here ..
The problem when evaluating Gerald is that he finished fights so quickly, he left a lot of questions unanswered. He could have been really good over a long fight, but we don't know, because he was almost never in one. I kind of dismiss the Benn fight, because he was in obvious distress in that one. Even so, he had Benn in trouble in round 8, so we know he had power in the later rounds. What's interesting (but in a morbid way) is that apparently Gerald had been complaining of severe headaches long before the Benn fight. This is according to sparing partners. And also if you watch the post-fight interview after his first fight with Jackson, he says 'I've got a massive headache...' I just took it to mean it was because of Jackson's punches, but maybe it was far more than that. It's scary and sad to think he could have been suffering from some severe problem long before the Benn fight, which nobody noticed.
McClellan bombs him out in the mid rounds, no way Barkley wins in a shoot out with Gerald, doesn't end well for him at all and McClellan is more than durable enough to take whatever Iran can dish out.
