It was a bad fight and highlighted how bad Price was compared to his early promise but he was on the canvas because Ali knew he was about to be ko’d and rugby tackled him.

They were both poor though, I’m not defending performances in that fight. The best thing about it all Is when Price fronted Ali’s boys saying he’d ko them too.

Price had all the physical tools but nothing at all in the spite department and to be honest not much in the skill department either. Shame as he is such a nice guy, he had a big punch which was effective against bums but that was basically it.

Price should move in to commentary, yes even as a fellow scouser I can admit his voice isn’t exactly warming to the ears but his analysis of boxing fights is excellent. He’s a lot better than what they’ve got on Sky or BT. It’s a shame he won’t get opportunities like that but someone like Dave Allen would.

You a dipper? Always had you down as a southerner

I'm with you on giving Pricey a shot on commentating.

His skill with his hands is underrated in my opinion, keeping the distance isn't the best but he is 6 foot 9 monster of a man to be fair. A problem I think is he was always too game to get involved in exchanges which is great for fans rather than if he took a leaf out of someone like H.Fury's playbook. It's small margins at elite levels though. Shame he didn't get a full camp for the Chisora fight as he was right that he had probably earned at least that.

Great guy price and good fighter just wasnt destined to be world class. Think hes spent his career being too hard on homself when the truth was he just wasnt good enough to be world level. Not many are tbf.

Hes carved out a half decent career in the end. Made a bit of money. Should be happy with that and stop believing hes let himself down etc.

Even taking the thompson defeats away...his career would have turned out similar imo. Hes a big guy...that can bang a bit decent skills....but without a gas tank...without confidence...and is probably too slow at the very top level. Considering that hes done allright for himself. Could still take one or two half decent scalps before he hangs them up...should go for guys on the way up that are untested.

I love big price even tho he has let me down in the past (betting). He should have had a trainer that trained him to the best of him instead I think he just accepted he was hard done by etc and never improved on his weaknesses.

I don’t get the hate for him, he’s a decent honest hard working man. Living the life that us on the internet merely talk about.

he will always be a nearly man or an “if only” type of fighter. I wish he would just step down and fight British level boys, get a few wins and bow out proud of what he achieved.

    Will give this a listen.

Always had a soft spot for Price. I'm glad he beat Dave Allen. His style is perfect for Olympic style boxing, which is why he had such success, he just can't mix it at world level in such a competitive division.

One of the straightest, nicest guys in Boxing. I really would love him to retire now though.

Why does anybody want to see David Price any longer?

Explain it to me and don't just say "he is always in good fights" because that is simply not true.

I was going to say I’d like him to box on, simply because I think he can be competitive at domestic level and provide good tests / fights for the likes of Dubois, Wardley and Adeleye. However I didn’t realise big pricey is 37 - he should probably pack in now. He can be happy with his career, he’s achieved things others couldn’t dream of and for a time had the world with one eye on him.

    Have to respect his honesty.

He's often been criticised for his engine but in all likelyhood, he probably burned himself out with nervous energy prior to even reaching the ring. I know how well he's been known to perform in the gym but unfortunately some cannot recreate it under the lights.
