Pretty obvious, if you understand boxing. Unfortunately, only a handful do. The usual drama queens will make the usual drama out of it, continuing their long tradition of being wrong while forgetting that they always are.

Wlad had a static target in AJ so of course he performed better.

Serge, I often agree w/you, and not exactly disagreeing here.
I missed following the fight, and my expectations would have been for fatso to stop Chris at some point. That CA went the distance and dropped Andy is a bit surprising. But three obvious points: 1) Andy had ring rust, 2) he's dropped a significant amount of weight, 3) his new trainer might not be a good fit.

That's a lot for any fighter, HW or whatever to overcome. Also maybe Arreola, while well past his best, is still training hard and is as fit as ever.
Do you truly think Ruiz will never be a legit top 5 HW?

Styles make fights indeed, hence your whole point that Wlad being better was nonsense. The style he faced suited him better is all.

Wilder would starch Ruiz, and I said that before last night. Having said that, Ruiz did well for being out of the ring 2 years. Fury ball sackers should keep than in mind should Fury-AJ happen in July or August; Fury has been out of the ring a LONG time.

It wasn't Ruiz's time out the ring that caused his knockdown in my honest opinion. It was his ballooning up and down in weight and it caught up to him by affecting his punch resistance. Good thing Fury doesn't do that

Ruiz was a nobody when AJ pulled him out of the trash bin for a gimme fight but was forced to spit his mouth piece out and quit when the Blob did not follow the script...................Ruiz is a fat plodder with feet stuck in cement with ok hand speed and is not a hard but sharp puncher.............Ruiz is TAILORMADE for Wilder hanging his chin out to dry for right hands all day long, if they ever fight Ruiz gets stopped, end off.

Only the Bodybuilders fan club talks up Ruiz because he folded their Hero......in reality Ruiz sucks, same goes for the tame Samoan, same goes for Heavybag Whyte and cream puff Hunter................Usyk is a joke...going the distance and getting roughed up by stone old Brit Clubfighter Chisora.....

Fury/Wilder/AJ are the top dogs and can win or loose against each other on any given day but after that it is a total wasteland of trash.

Why the hate for Ruiz? Arreola was a very good fighter with heavy hands who wasted his prime years flirting with the title being an undisciplined tough guy. He clearly by this fight realizes what he lost and got in better condition and took a shot...it was a good fight.

Ruiz got to the top through happenstance and ability...he almost went right down the same road as Arreola. His going over to Canelos camp is a good move and this was the right fight to apply his improved skills. His physique will improve as will his mastery of the skills we have to remember a lifetime of habits do not change in one fight. Too much of a premium is placed on appearance over ability and conditioning if being muscular was the end all be all then boxing would cease and physique contests would be the new boxing. Ruiz at 280+ lbs had more stamina than quite a few heavyweights as slow and unsightly as he was.

I am interested in seeing the evolution in upcoming fights

That's a good point about Ruiz but ring rust is ring rust and can effect anyone. Fury has said many times lately that he hasn't fought in two years so obviously it's bothering him.

Could be I personally think it was his time out of the ring and Arreola threw a beautiful right over the top of a crouching Ruiz...it looked hard to me and Ruiz was down and up quickly...happens to the best...ballooning up and down does tend to shorten careers but Ruiz is still pretty young

I get what you're saying but the problem is Arreola had been out for four months longer than Fat Andy, had dropped a significant amount of weight and super fat himself, and he's 40 y/o and has been shot to bits for an eternity. Fat Andy was supposed to blow through that shell of Arreola in a couple of rounds, not go life and death with him and get dropped, hurt repeatedly and almost dropped x 2.

It's possible but both he and his chin, which many have argued was the best in the division, have been exposed as being overrated and many of his cheerleaders are going to have to reevaluate some of their previous fantastical claims about him after Arreola's ghost exposed him.

    Agreed.

I don't think Ruiz has the best chin. Fury can take a much better shot.

The myth of Fat Andy's iron chin begins and ends with the AJ fights. Don't get me wrong, AJ is a huge strong unit and he hits hard. However, he possesses big man power that comes from just being a huge physical presence, not like an Inoue type of savage banger whose power far exceeds their size and weight. Also, most of his stoppage wins are a result of his combinations not devastating single shots. The one time he caught Fat Andy with a combo he put him on his ass.
