You don't need to posses huge skill or ring iq to beat Ruiz. Did Parker?

Ruiz would knock Whyte out, don’t let last nights performance fool you on that, Whyte would trade with Ruiz and come out a lot of worse as he is much much slower and his chin is pretty much done

Not on my card he didn’t, no. Parker also has much much faster feet and hands than Whyte, especially back then, and boxed a completely different fight to how Whyte would.

Well I agree with some that but also another factor may have been Joshua was meant to fight Lard ass Miller so bulked up so Miller could not rag doll him which slowed him down , plus he gave Ruiz no respect as a credible live opponent ....

Not sure. Ruiz looked bad, but could have just been a bad night.

I thought this too. But AJ's cautious performance in the second fight does put that into question. If he really just got caught when trying to finish Ruiz and never recovered, why change the whole approach and even come in smaller? Drastic changes. I still it's possible he changed his approach just to leave no room for Ruiz to beat him again, but who knows.

Parker tried to box Ruiz at range when he realized he couldn't hang with him up close and mostly succeeded. That's likely how Whyte will fight, and Whyte is a more proven outboxer than Parker with a longer reach which he generally uses quite well, along with underrated timing. Unless he gets into a stupid tearup he'll be busting up Ruiz's face with his jab while Ruiz tries to plod after him. Ruiz isn't a defensive genius, and his head movement isn't particularly great to allow him to to close distance with the ease some posters think he would. He'll have an advantage in handspeed, of course, but unless he focuses on Whyte's body he'll likely waste a lot of punches peppering away at Whyte's high guard. I expect him to have his moments, but I think they'll be outweighed by Whyte's overall consistency and control of the rounds and lead him to drop a decision the way comparable opponents like Parker and Rivas did.

I suspect the latter. There was a ton riding on the result of the rematch and Joshua and his team likely didn't want to take any chances.

There's all that to consider as well. I think we as fans often don't understand how much preparation plays a role at these highest levels, and how difficult it can be to fight an opponent you weren't spending the past however many months training for.

I don't think Whyte was looking good at all Vs Parker, not until after Parker wen't down from the head clash which slowed him down. They both have the ability to land a good punch and put the other down, Ruiz has shown he can recover well from a knock down - Whyte not so much. If neither of them land any decent shots, it would be a very even fight. But I think Whyte's lack of a decent chin means at any point during the fight, it could swing in Ruiz's favour and Whyte might be just hanging in there to avoid another KO.

Whyte would be the hardest puncher Fat Andy has fought if this one comes off and I see him winning that one by KO. FTR, ribbing aside, I've always liked Fat Andy.

If that's the best Ruiz can look after supposedly working to get in shape then I think Whyte beats him

Whyte would duck Ruiz, probably even If a title was on the line.

Ruiz got up from AJ, hes a tough unit. I think Ruiz would knock Whyte out.
