If Billy Joe finds Canelo a lot more difficult to deal with on the outside, do you think he will take the fight to the Mexican king? Gypsies don't usually mind a good old fashioned tear up. Tyson Fury has flipped the script a few times when he hasn't had his way from the outside. Will Billy Joe go into the trenches and sell out if Canelo is too slippery?
Great question. I would like to know too. Would Billy Joe go into the trenches and mix it up if his plan A isn't working? I would think he will probably stay on the outside no matter what, but I don't know. Saunders does have a significant height advantage but only a slight reach advantage. By staying on the outside he limits Canelo's ability to land major body shots. Given his height advantage, if Billy becomes a static target even for a millisecond Canelo will use that opening to target that body since Saunders body is right in Canelo's punching range. I'm genuinely unsure about how much success Canelo can have to the body. Because Saunders movement and height will make it harder for Canelo to land shots to Saunders head. But Canelo is such a brutal body puncher that may be his best bet to land clean shots early on and try to slow Saunders down. This is what makes this so intriguing.
His best bet is doing a bit of both to disrupt Canelo's timing. If he sticks to one gear he will get broken down either inside or outside.
He’s gonna need one cause Nelo bout to impregnate that GypsyAss! joking aside, he surprised in his last fight to get the KO when nothing else was working albeit he didn’t look very good up until that point. but it did prove his versatility. Just not sure he can do it to an opponent of Canelo’s Calibur.
Do you expect Canelo to target the body early and often? Do you expect him to land a lot of body shots throughout the fight or will Billy's movement force Canelo to do more headhunting?
Do you think Canelo's jab could end up being a bigger factor than usual? With Saunders being so quick on his feet, and Canelo being notorious for being a slow starter, something tells me this could be a jabbing contest early on. I know Canelo is more known for his power punching than his jabs, but will Saunders style make Canelo more reliant on his jab than usual?
Yes I totally expect Canelo to go to the body early and often. I view Canelo as an aggressive, but slow footed counter puncher. He used to try the slick outside style, but it never worked for him. He has really come along with his skills with cutting off the corner and going to the body. Saunders is more of the wild card for me. Sometimes he looks great and sometimes he looks like poo poo. I actually expect him at his best with slick movement causing some problems for Canelo early, but I think Canelo times him, breaks him down and then takes over for a UD. However this is boxing and you are talking about an undefeated champion with a strong sense of self belief, you never know.
I’m excited for this fight. Canelo should get a lot of credit if he convincingly beats Saunders because it’s a style he’s known to struggle with
I think his plan A and B are to squander the purse as if it'll last forever and never be a serious fighter again.
yes. look for a way to lay it down without coming off like too much of a quitter. i wouldnt mind having to eat those words too much. i just dont think hes gonna live up to his own billing.
Saunders boxing ability gives Canelo issues in the beginning. Canelo will target the body often. The body shots catch up to Saunders. Canelo starts to shine in the mid-later rounds and wins a convincing UD. Im sure thats the most likely scenario
