Valuev vs Wlad: Will this ever happen and how would it go down?

No, it will never happen. Wlad would knock him out surprisingly early, 3rd or 4th round.

 

It's more likely than you think. If Valuev wins vs Ruiz, he would take the career payday a unification fight with Wlad would give him. Both fighters are fighting on roughly the same schedule, so excessive time off won't be an issue. And, if they make it before Chagaev is healed, Ruslan could simply fight the winner. There's also the intrigue of how Wlad would deal with a bigger man.

I'd watch that fight in a heartbeat.

Valuev is popular in Europe. I think Wlad made something like 10 million vs Thompson!!! This fight is a promoter's dream. Wla dmight have to drop a belt to make it happen though.

 

13 million vs Thompson? Wow, Wlad must really be popular in Europe. That is a HUGE PPV type of pay day. Maybe the Klitschko company K-2 promotion is getting a piece of the action.

I do think Wlad could TKO Valuev, but Wlad might have to press it a bit. Valuev is slow, and Wlad hit too hard for the giant to stand there and take it for 12 rounds.

 

I'm still in the camp that remains uncertain about Valuev's chin.

Yes, never down and all that, but he also hasn't fought many genuine power hitters at all. Both Bidenko and Barrett did seem to shake him a bit.

Fighting Wladimir would be one of the best tests for that big ol' skull.

And I don't think punching out Tye Fields makes you a big puncher, unless Jeff Ford hits like a slegehammer as well. Barrett has never been considered one of the better hitters around at HW.

Still doubt for me over Valuev's chin. I'm willing to definitely say it's good, but certainly not to say it's "iron".

I think Vlad breaks him down and becomes the first man to knock him out. Vlad will hit him harder, more often, and cleaner than he has been hit before. As someone said, the fight would be a spectacle and would be something to see. It would be good for the heavyweight division.

 

Wlad hits much harder than that, don't worry.

Valuev isn't just big, he's a true giant. Every part of his body is proportionally bigger than his opponent. That includes the size of his head and the thickness of his skull. Add to that his height which forces his opponent to throw punches uphill. ( unless you want to work on that tree trunk Valuev calls a body ) Could Klitchko knock him out? Possibly. But we'll never know. Half of Valuev's opponents hurt themselves or tire out trying to punch him. If Wladimir goes for the knock-out power punches and it turns out he doesn't have the power to KO Valuev then he'll have given the giant a major advantage and Wladimir is too smart to take that chance. He'll stick to standard power punches that look impressive but don't really have any KO power behind them then he'll try to use his faster punching speed and footwork to outpoint the giant.
