Should have been negotiated up front. This is one of the basics that get negotiated from the get go. B sides shouldn't just take abuse, but in this climate you got to beat the champ to become the champ. The champs earn their way to be A sides in negotiations by taking risks and bringing in fans. Mayweather took the B side money to beat ODLH, Canelo took the B side money and beating against Mayweather to become a bigger star.

At this point if BJS walks away he walks away from a major pay day and opportunity to become the man. Canelo can find anyone in the top 50 at 168 and still sell tickets. He doesn't need BJS to get fans to watch him fight.

 

No Canelo has the premier belts WBA and WBC as well as Ring Magazine and lineal belt. BJS can keep his WBO belt assuming the WBO don’t strip him.

 

They are showing up to see Canelo unify against an undefeated world champion, not to KO a local janitor in 1 round. They'll either budge or it will be a nothing event so BJS is wise to play this card, if he's willing to take the potential financial hit.

It was all part of the grand Gypsy scheme by Tyson Fury. It wasn't JUST the hard canvas. It was also the Stomach gyrations at the press conference showing how fat and out of shape he was. This caused Wlad not to train as hard thinking that Fury was out of shape after seeing Fury's fat stomach. So it was a well laid trap for Wlad by Fury. And Billy isn't Fury. Canelo won't be dictated to, he's too smart and experienced for such tricks, but he may be willing to compromise. Canelo has sacrificed before to make fights, but never at this late stage mere days before a match. But Canelo has the upper hand here, Billy is the one looking like a fool getting Daddy to threaten to pull out of the fight. If Billy pulls out, then he was the one who pulled out, not Canelo. And he'll be the one accused of backing down from the fight of his life, and that's antithetic to the Gypsy spirit. Canelo doesn't have to give Saunders anything, if Billy refuses to fight under the standard rules then Billy will only bring shame on himself.
