The fight will happen... this is just Team Saunders attempting to use the Fury playbook from 2015, trying - and probably failing - to get in Canelo's head. There's too much money at stake for him to walk away from a massive pay day - and at his age this would probably draw a line under his elite fight potential...

 

Over 3.2k comments and 8 years in a boxing forum and you still know nothing about the sport?! Wow. Diva antics by the A side cause he wants the fight to be fought in a 20ft ring who is the standard for all the championship fights (including heavyweights, from Fury vs Wilder to Ali vs Foreman). Yet the B side wants a 24ft ring?! Hahahaha.

No big deal. BJS benefits from a larger ring, Canelo wants to keep the distance close so he wanted a smaller ring. BJS called him on it and they made an adjustment in ring size that both guys agreed upon. It sounds like Canelo’s team didn’t want to give in to the change (I don’t blame them) and BJS wouldn't give in to the smaller size ring (again, I don’t blame him). The fight is going to happen, no harm, no foul.

If BJS agreed to go forward with the smaller ring, he would be a fool. Also, if Canelo didn’t try to increase his chances of winning by having a smaller ring, he’d be a fool.

Canelo fans have the arrogance to suggest anyone fighting Canelo should be happy to give whatever he decides to give them. Small ring, venue selection, layout, judge selection, weight restrictions, etc. Until they figure out a way for him to get paid to fight alone in the ring, there is always going to be negotiations. If he was fighting a bigger puncher like Beterbiev, I’m sure Canelo would want a 30 foot ring or something massive. In this case, I’m surprised it wasn’t specifically stated in the contract. Finding out now is surprising. Also if BJs agreed to a smaller ring in the contract, he has no argument after the ink dries.

 

Nothing might make me be more proud as called as casual by casuals who are thinking that they are not casuals.

Also, I will not watch ANY Canelo fight, for me was enough with Canelo vs Khan fight watching with yelling fans and biased commentators and this definitely was cherry picker's fight.

I do not care about you idol Canelo and even never had watched his fight vs Kovalev, too predictable.
Only Canelo fans are thinking that he is so interesting, so special, so amazing and he does have haters etc like things.

I also will not watch his fight vs BJS even for free.
Canelo is boring, fights predictable outcome fights and all his fans are very boring.

Good for Saunders, bout time ppl stopped being yes men towards Canelo.. BJS is a mover , they are trying to take his legs away.. 18ft ring is a take **** .. interesting that Alvarez never calls for 18ft rings in his other fights.. they obviously see a problem with Saunders and are trying to minimise it as much as they can

It’s not just the legs as BJS has some impressive lateral movement especially with his upper body and head.
Canelo will eventually catch him and drop them tainted beef gloves on BJS.
Canelo by late , maybe 11th ,round TKO or razor edge win in the eyes of fans but a wide scorecard from all 3 judges

John Ryder could show up to replace Saunders on Saturday, and nobody who bought a ticket would care.

If Ryder showed up to replace Canelo, and Saunders-Ryder became the main event on Saturday, the ticket holders would all demand their money back or they'd burn the place down. (LOL)

Saunders is a placeholder. And they did the fans a favor refusing a 24-foot ring.

Otherwise, it's Saunders running for an hour trying to ensure that both guys only land one-or-two-punches a round, and he'd still lose a decision because there is nothing remotely entertaining about that.

We watch boxing to see two guys fight ... not run and try to stay out of punching range for as many minutes a round as possible.

Next, Saunders misses weight by a couple pounds. You can see it coming a mile away. This guy wants out.

 

Why are people pretending that a 20ft ring is an unfair advantage for Canelo?

BJS is demanding a ring size that doesn't even exist under the BbbofC.

20ft is standard, bang in the middle of regs, for all pro fights. Including the giants.

 

Canelo should say the ring can be any size, but they need to put a cage around it.
