Canelo will win like 8-4, a judge will have it 10-2 and this will be a source of controversy for years.
Look at my post history I've already said this won't be a fun fight Clenelo will slowly but surely take his will away and either TKO or KO him in round 9ish
You have to favour Clenelo. 1. He has the judges in his pocket and his extensive history of receiving gifts from them and scandalously wide scorecards in his favour is well documented. If you can't knock him out the judges will rob you. That's the safest bet in boxing. 2. BJS 2.0 has looked like crap up at 168. He was hurt by the nonentity he won the belt against in that vacant title shot, needed a hail Mary come from behind stoppage to keep ahold of the belt when IIRC he was behind on points against that Argentine fighter no one outside of The Pampas had ever heard of before, and his last fight was a 12 decision over a washed up 38 y/o Martin Murray. And 3. Clenelo is a fantastic fighter which is something I've never denied albeit it's rare to see this kind of courtesy extended towards certain opponents of his from his fanatical fangirls even though said opponent is by far his best ever 'win' albeit in name only and they were robbed blind by his judges even though they were way past their prime and he had to jack himself full of PEDs to come away with a razor close PTS decision against the PED free old man on the cards of his judges That being said, it is hard to shake the image of him getting soundly outboxed by a shot drunk shell of Kovalev for the vast majority of the fight and you can count the number of power shots Kovalev threw in that fight on one hand and still have a few fingers to spare. And of course him getting soundly outboxed by 140 pounder Khan for the vast majority of their fight too prior to the much lighter smaller man getting clipped. There's zero doubt a prime Kovalev would've taken him out in brutal fashion and if he wanted to just straight outbox him he would've shut him out 12-0 and deep down his fans know this too albeit it's all speculation because he never would've taken the fight in a million years which they also know but will never admit.
I cant see anything what saunders does to keeping canelo off him in any way. Canelo will take a few rounds to get to him sure but saunders does tire down the stretch you can bank on that. This is the moment off truth for saunders, he will try everything to spoil to get a moral victory. I just think he never was any good. I would be delighted if he proves me wrong on saturday and all i hope is for a good fight which i dont expect though.
Canelo has way more tools to work with, more experienced,is the a side meaning the judges will give him close rounds, But BJS has the moves and awkward southpaw style, hmm BJS by late round TKO in upset of the decade.
If I had to bet the house it would be Canelo 117-111, on judges scorecards but 115-113 on fair scorecards. I think Canelo is the best 168lber on the planet. P4P equal of Crawford. Spence beats Crawford imo but only because he is legit bigger and Spence is very close p4p to Crawford and Canelo
If Canelo doesn't respect Saunders power then it will be a short night. I think Canelo might be surprised Saunders is quicker than he looks and hits harder. I think Saunders is better than advertised from his 168 fights. It'll come down to Saunders's gas tank and punching power. If Canelo doesn't respect his power then he may feel like he can take more risks to knockout BJS. I'm not even totally sure if Canelo is that big of a puncher. He landed some bombs on Callum Smith and they didn't seem hugely effective. He's also knocked out guys most of the top 20 would knock out in Avni Yildirim, a smaller Amir Khan, a shot drunk Kovalev. BJS when he fought Lemieux he was visibly hurting him with almost everything he threw. He could've stopped David that night but his cornerman didn't want him to risk it.
I'm not convinced that Saunders is even the second best southpaw Alvarez has ever fought. Lara strikes me as more skilled and Trout may have been, too. This just seems like an easy pick, but I hope I am wrong. I would love to see Saunders make this real competitive.
