Well it was probably one of his best displays of what he can do offensively, if not the best. But as far as accomplishments it wasn't much. But what he did to Ray Mercer I wouldn't wish on most guys. That ultra-offensive Wlad shows up rarely these days.
Shot is not a yes/no value. He was shot to a degree, but not nearly as shot as he is today. Just like Tyson was somewhat shot vs Lewis, but hopelessly shot vs McBride
Foreman's the exception to the rule, even then he'd had a long break from being punched in the head and had a very well manufactured comeback. Just stop trying to twist facts to make Wlad look better than he is, he's good-certainly by today's standards but, he's not in the class of a Lewis, Holyfield, Holmes etc. It's ridiculous, have some objectivity.
YES. He was shot. These are Wlad's notable wins, and of course Mercer is not included: -Monte Barrett -Axel Schulz -Chris Byrd -Frans Botha -Jameel McCline -Davaryll TOS Williamson -Samuel Peter -Lamon Brewster -Chris Byrd -Calvin Brock -Tony Thompson -Sultan Ibragimov
Mercer was shot, obviously. He only got the fight with Wlad because of his name recognition, his constant yapping about wanting to fight Wladimir, and the opportunity for a young up-and-comer to add a name to his resume. He was game but was devoid of most of the attributes he'd need to be anything more than a punching bag.

Mercer was shot. His experience could no longer compensate for his body's deterioration. Old people have experience as well, more than anyone in fact and their bodies still break down and don't allow them to do things they know how to do and have more experience doing. You may know a punch is coming, it doesn't mean that you have the ability to react to it. At some point, experience is not a big enough factor to overcome the body and what it can no longer do. That fighter or athlete is past his prime, and if the body has deteriorated past a certain point, he is shot.
How can anyone claim he was shot when YEARS LATER he is still boxing. Recently he had an MMA fight with Kimbo but 6 years ago he was SHOT? Give me a break.
Oh dear knn you cant help yourself atschI suppose holyfield isn't shot either do you actualy watch boxing ?
