Tyson... “Iron” Tyson: Ego, mental and emotional total disconnects (chemical) Cocaine, Don King, himself. “Gypsy” Tyson: Mental and emotional issues, casino style buffets, Cocaine, his own uppercut, himself.
Himself and being a product of absent father household. He was overly emotional due to lack of male role model. And experienced success at an unprecedented young age and was not mentally mature enough to handle it.
Tyson did alright in the boxing ring. He lost to Douglas, but so what ? He bounced back. He lost to Holyfield but Holyfield was a great fighter. The idea that Tyson self-destructed in boxing terms is overstated. He was the youngest champion at heavyweight ever. It was unrealistic to think he'd reign for a decade undefeated, with his style of fighting. Just unrealistic. Outside the ring he messed up a bit, couldn't control himself in a strange world of fame and wealth, he wasn't mentally mature enough. But, hey, we all **** things up sometimes. He seems okay now.
Obviously himself, he can't blame anyone else. Desiree Washington actually helped him. Even Tyson admitted had he not been put in jail, he would have been dead due to the lifestyle he lived.
