To me it seemed that weight was not a problem. Ruiz fell in love with his power after Joshua 1 fight. I remach he felt that he would easily ko AJ and to be fair AJ didnt seem confident when ever they had excange even in remach. Arreola basically did what Ruiz did to Aj and trew punch between oponents combo and put him down. After Ruiz realized in 2nd round that he just cant run over Arreola he adjusted and won. Lets hope he learns from that. If anything being in good shape helped him to recover quickly. Just my option
Of course he's right about fat>>muscle which is what I've been telling you for ages and have proven beyond any reasonable doubt after the extensive scientific research I've carried out on the subject. But the problem is Fat Andy's come in below or around about that weight about 20 times so I we can't blame it on him shedding some of the super fat Check this excellent post I wrote yesterday Fat Andy the Featherfist Fad Win or lose Fat Andy has been taken the distance in 8 of his last 13 outings and one of those was his stoppage win over AJ He didn't stop 40 y/o shell of Arreola who should've been 2-3 in his last 5, both wins over nobodies A shot to smithereens 38 y/o Liakhovich who was 1-3 in his last 4 all of his defeats coming via way of stoppage, the win being over a 5-11 tomato can Rafael Zumbano Love. Granted it was only an 8 rounder and Love is a tough journeyman who has only been stopped six times out of his 57 fights. However, he had been stopped x 3 earlier on that year. By AJ in 2, Eric Molina in 8, and Charles Martin in 10 A near 39 y.o Kevin Johnson. No disgrace there as Johnson is very tough and defensively cute and has only been stopped x 3. However, one of those stoppage defeats came in his previous fight against 10-0 prospect Petar Milas and a 6-0 Hrgovic floored Johnson when he fought him five months later which Fat Andy was unable to do Joell Godfrey who whilst generally durable and a CW and it only being an 8 rounder was coming off three straight stoppage defeats: TKO 7, DQ 7, and a corner retirement at the end of round 3 to John Wesley Nofire. Two of those were up at CW Level though 40 y/o Franklin Lawrence who to be fair was durable and has only been stopped on an arm injury Joseph Parker. No disgrace there as Parker is very tough and has never been stopped and has only been down against Whyte and Chisora And obviously AJ in the rematch whom he was barely was able to lay a glove on due to AJ being on his bike all night He did stop A 45 y/o shot to smithereens Ray Austin A 40 y/o Josh Gormley Devin Vargas in a round which to be fair is quicker than anyone else has got him out of there Dimitrenko in 5 who was coming off a TKO 9 loss to Bryant Jennings and would go onto get stopped in 3 by Tony Yoka three months after losing to Fat Andy And obviously AJ in their first fight To be fair he went on a 9 fight stoppage streak prior to all these fights I do think Fat Andy can dig a bit but his performance against a 40 y/o way past it Arreola who he couldn't even hurt let alone floor or stop has caused me to reevaluate his power
I don't think like this. Ruiz does not so much underestimate his opponents as ppl are thinking about him. Most likely he assumed that A.J will go for stoppage win and trade with him with intent to KO him in revenge for stoppage loss. While A.J, most likely had studied his fight vs Parker and other boxers and picked up different apporach. To keep distance vs Ruiz and score on him. While yeah, did not looked that he might hurt Ruiz, he clearly had won decision for rematch and even Ruiz then was not that bad at all there.
Possibly, I’d like to see how he looks in his next fight before they start stuffing him with snickers again.
Ruiz doesn’t understand that Snickers bars are the source of his power, imagine if he started to eat the almond one?
Ruiz has slow feet. The whole idea about him losing that body fat and getting fitter is that he can move better in the ring. He still needs to get fitter and lose more love handles.
